Tools needed: spanner bolts to sute harmonic balancer. Balancer remover. Tools not needed: tyrer leaver Screw drivers Stone racing. first remove the front big ass bolt, 27mm, if its hard to get or the motor keeps turning over, put a big bar on it and start the car Now its off.. now get your bolts and remover. place in and screw down. Get the snanner and start turning.. If it turned the motor over (as the motor in question dosnt have PISTONS!) just hold the banlancer and turn. once it falls over.. LIFT IT Then place on ground and take another photo for fun and last but not forgoten.. Take random photo from file and insert. took about 2minutes... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

There is a bit that sits behind it aganst the belt. thats all i can remember.. so 1.

Starting the car would not be advisable with a big bar attached to the balancer bolt...literally a quick flick on the key will crack it.

yes, just a hit, if it dosnt get it, hit it again. But as you have removed the coil it wont start and will just turn over slowly..

theres two washers on the crank timing pulley, one behind and one in front if you leave on off all your belts dont sit square

Also, Even with a puller it can be hard to get off. once there is some tention on the balancerwhen trying to get of, Get a hammor and just hit the shaft of the puller, The jult will be enough to pop it off. thats all.. Thank you. Tomorrow class i will be doing a timing belt removing and install.

matty, is it easy enough to take one off while the engines still in the car? I have to take one off a 5ltr holden, and its a bit tight to get the socket and stuff on from what I can see...

Narr mate, plenty of room, but i also have taken out the radiator everytime..

On a VL there is just enough room to do this with the Radiator in the car, we did it last week to replace Crank Seal...used exact same balancer puller that you have in pic there man... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

[Do you have any more tips to get off that sprocket? After many hours work with WD40,cold chisels and a blow torch mines moved about 5mm and now it seems stuck solid.I'm thinking of grinding it off but there isn't much room.(I don't have access to an oxy cutter) The manual says just slide it off.....

pffft..all that time...use 2 decent sized screw drivers (I reccomend Stanley ones) you will damage ur lower timing belt cover but no one sees that one and you can beat it back into place! theres always a backyard way to do things! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

drill a couple of holes on the key way sideof the timing gear from inside to out and then chisel it to split the gear but dont drill too far unless you feel like doing your oil pump as well
