I have conflicting information: The monaro is a 71 model (pre-pollution) but the motor im putting in is a 5.0 litre V8 from a VQ statesman (92-93 i think) which ran catalytic convertors. Some people say that because the car is 71 dont bother. Others say that you have to go off the ADR requirements that that years motor had to comply with. Anyone know for sure?

i think it's ADR requirements of the motor

pretty sure kane's correct on that one. adr's comply to the motor not to the car.

but then why dont people have to comply with rb30 into LC.. or is that a different emissions thing?

in NSW its the car. pre 1970 u only have to comply to the 4 adrs. safety, noise, forgot the other 2. so u can have a off chops rb30 in a 1969 holden, all is good -they cant touch it Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Its funny how unleaded cars have cat converters but if you run unleaded in a VH you dont have to have them, hmm.

Wherever you plan to get it blue slipped or whateva, ask them. If they say you don't need em then you can get it rego'd without em, so don't worry. If you need em, you need em. On the other hand, cats are nice to the environment - put in the cats and go hug some trees Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
