Firstly, which do you prefer or would buy?
And, secondly...does anyone have any links of reviews about these cars? Possibly a comparision review of the two?
Has Wheels or Motor magazines reviewed any of these cars in their magazines? Which issue?
Thanks
the xr5 is all volvo s40 t5 drive line. thats why it goes so well. the focus , volvo s40/v50 and mazda 3 share floor plan, brakes and suspension aswell.
their isnt alot of support for the astra turbo (modification wise). i know a few people with astra turbo's who have the biggest headache modding them.. for example putting a front mount intercooler is a pain because their isnt alot of room for the piping.
i dont know anything about the xr5, but it looks alot nicer than the astra, and if u say its a volvo driveline, xr5 for the win
i love the astra turbo.. in fact im getting one soon in black
the hsv vxr is a pimped up version and i wish i had the extra 12 g's to pick one up, because all it is is a rebadged version of the OPC astra turbo, and its freekn hot.. especially with the 19's and the bodykit, and it comes in that blue colour.. omfg.
damn.
but astra turbo it is. and once the factory warranty runs out, on comes a bigger cooler and a dose pipe
time to get my dose on

In stock form the astra turbo is nothing special, fun to drive but dont expect to be blowing the doors off too many cars. The TS astra seems a bit quicker and is a bit easier on the eyes. Id buy one for my missus if i had the cash... or a missus.
Cant speak for the ford, looks interesting and id love to go for a drive in one.

yeah but this is a brand new car... and they're gonna hold theyre value. (way better than commodores anyway).. the 03 astra turbo's still go for 25 - 30 g's, and the turbo convertibles like my mrs's one still go for 37 - 40..
Brand new cars are sh1t, they cant take a thrashing and your not exactly going to baby this thing around.
Front wheel burnouts are good for a giggle but its not funny when driveshafts start clicking n sh1t lol
Your call man, if you got the money and its what you want go hard.

im keeping the vl, which will be my dose machine/powerplant/weekend car/project and the astra will be a daily.. i wanted a 4cyl hatch with a bit of stick that doesnt look too girly... the astra won
plus it'll be fun making it dose

brand new cars r **** its true i would not touch a holden as i have a barina sri which is the same motor as astra but no turbo and i blew the gearbox from giving it a thrashing and a new box from holden is 4800 so i would go for the ford. as holden front wheel drives r ****
i like the astra for sure it just looks pimp in black well for a girls car anyway i wonder how good it would go with some mods like bigger turbo aftermarket computer etc and oh yer a big dose pipe i wanna see one dose hehe
