Can i get away with just removing the diff housing cover, and slapping a peice of steel plate and some weld in there, or must the inside of the diff be removed then welded??

Had to buy a new mini spool, $150 delivered off JET6, my old centre was just welded up ive had the car 3 years and has made over 200rwkw for 2 years and over 300rwkw for the last year which has included track racing and the welded center is still together. Broke pinion gear in half and stripped the crown gear, but welds are still together. Pull it apart and do it properly and you will have a chance of it surviving for a long while.

25-07-06, 21:02 GMT+10#14 its pretty hard to weld with jsut the cover pff :/ theres only a really small hole to get to the spider gears.
if your welding isnt to crash hot youll end up welding the gears to your centre
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

25-07-06, 21:28 GMT+10#15 Not hard to remove the centre, axles out, bearing retainers off and pull it all out (will need to use a bit of force) and then do it that way.
If your going to be bodgey, may aswell it do it at least half proper!

26-07-06, 08:27 GMT+10#17 as was said all depends on how well u wanna weld it up.
to simply weld it then no u dont have to pull to that much bits.
