I've done many searches and tried to find out whats wrong with my car by myself before i posted a thread on here, but after two months and no improvement whatsoever, its time to ask on here.. The problem exsists with my bad fuel consumption! At the moment i am getting roughly between 220km - 240km per tank (or around $60 worth) I have had the car serviced and tuned twice in the past two months Injectors are fine, fuel pump is fine, AFM is brand new, have also replaced two sensors, thermostat and the necessary hoses and lines that may have caused problems but nothing has seemed to work. My vlct is completly stock and i'm hoping someone could come up with a few other ideas to help out.. All input would be greatly appreciated!! -Jason Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

do you have a standard fuel reg, also the two sensors you replaced, were they the o2 and temp sensor for the ecu? as the above 3 things are what come to mind as the most likly causes. also have you unpluged all of the sensor and cleaned the contacts.

im not too sure about the mechanical side of the car, but my mechanic said one sensor was rat **** (to do with exhaust) and replaced that and then he replaced thermostat as it was showing the wrong reading, if that helps 1st service: "sublet for diagnostic test through fuel system, supply with thermostat and gasket, add coolant" 2nd service: "to supply & fit wiper blades, headlight globe, taillight globe, oxygen sensor" they were the comments left by my mechanic on the receipt i hope that helps. cheers mate

well the oxygen sensor is an o2 sensor, so that can be ruled out. i would try getting a second hand vlt fuel reg, and getting a new ecu temp sensor. if that dose not help it then i am out of idea's. i just got a temp sensor for a rb20 and it was around $70, i would guess a vl one would be about half that. good luck with it

ok i didnt wanna start another thread... but my fuel problem is still happening and i need some help!! i recently jsut got 165km out of my tank.. :O the needle goes up all the way to full and i fill up all the time when it sits JUST above the red line! and i usually get about 200 - 230 but i have been getting considerably less each time i fill up. the car has been serviced, had 2 sensors replaced, fuel pump A1, and im really after any ideas that i could possibly be and/or if not, a place around melbourne i could take it too who would have better knowledge then some of the locals aorund here. any help would be gratefully appreciated!!

IF I was you I would be checking your fuel lines.... I would say you have a VERY bad leak somewhere. I would suggest checking any and all hoses for the fuel line... Are you blowing black smoke? Backfiring? Is it dipping down like its flooding on take offs? Leaking injectors? You really need to give us more details on how your car is running.

When you fill up with the gauge at the red line...how many litres do you put in until the bowser clicks off?

Did you try another Fuel Regulator? Otherwise, remove rear drivers side wheel, pull out the plastic cover in the wheel arch and check the fuel tank breather hoses and replace them if they're perished

ive had the car serviced twice.. there is no leaking.. the car seirously runs PERFECT... i would say i would fill up about $65 when the thing clicks off.. and it sits iehter jsut on or marginally under the full line... and i fill up when i have a couple mm's left b4 the red line ive got a brand new air flow meter, replaced two sensors, the injectors arnt leaking they are fine, no backfiring, starts up first time everytime, no smoke, but what i do notice when im driving is,.. i accelerate (granny styles) and my fuel gauge goes down down n then up up.. (not sure if all vl turbos do that but my n/a didnt do it) my car is completely stock so there arnt any mods extracting jucie anywhere so far on the next service, gunna try the fuel pressure regulator, replace anything that looks like **** and the fuel lines and make sure there isnt a slight tear.. mazza: id be over the moon if i was getting 320km per tank! also i park my car on the grass and havnt noticed any patches from where petrol is dropping and i park on concrete aswell n my ol man would kill me if i was leaking anything and he hasnt complained yet.. (anyone know of a shop aorund that should be able to work it out, ive been to two mechanics and come back with new parts i never needed)

this is very interesting. Someones not milking your tank are they? Go out and start your car up.. grab your accelerator cable and yank it and slowly bring it all the way open. Listen for any nasty sounds.

Hey man is it possible one of your fuel lines is leakin when the car is runnin and the fuel pump is goin. The pressure might open a small pin prick hole that doesnt leakin when just sittin there. My car leaked fuel out of the rubber hose from tank to pump.
