Wack a multimeter on the coils and see what the resistance is.

multimeter, hmm better off usuing a resistance tester aka mega. although these cost a bit. try an audio shop, they might be able to help u out. were the 2 original subs wired up correctly? Carl

what should the resistance be? i have a multimeter and a sub which my mate thinks he has blown....

the resistance is written on the sub for example 4ohm. if the multimeter reads higher the speaker/sub is stuff. if lower, its still good

what if it reads nothing near the reisitance its shows like 1 im using a multimeter and ive gone through all the resistance settings their is 20M, 200k, 20k, 2000 and 200 which one should i be using? thanks

Use the 200 setting on your multimeter. You will hardly ever find a woofer that shows its true impedance. For example, a typical 4ohm coil will probably actually read about 3.2ohms.

to read ressitance (with a mega {resistance tester}), its either 1 of 2 things. 1. u wil get a value of resistance, which from memory is 2Ω, or 2. u will get infinite resistance, meaning there is no connection, hence too much resistivity. if the sub is blown, ur most likely to get option 2. cus there is no full connection within the subwoofer. hope i have helpd Carl Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Just take it to your nearest car sound place and they will be able to test it for you... saves you the hassell
