I want to get some rust removed and my calais wagon resprayed. Just want a rough estimate on a price ? Whats a basic respray worth in the same color its in now. Which is the cardinal red. ( Maroon ) You see some spray shops advertising resprays for like $500... Im going to go quote hunting when footy seasons over as I cant find the time to do it now. Hopefully someone can give me a rough idea of what its going to cost me. Thanks for the help in advance WeLLsY

A little more info would be nice. What sort of job would I get for $1000, and where ? If anyone has before after pics of getting their car resprayed in the same color and what it cost them that would be perfect.

ive got a mate thats a panel betaer and he says 5 grand but thats before he looks at a car.just think of it a 25 bux an hour plus materials.1000 bux buys you 40 hours.a good tradie can get a lot done in 40 hours.id say 2k as a ballpark figure, but its hard to say without knowing the extent of repairs needed.materials would be 500 max. also remeber if you go to a shop with a ghreat reputation and quality of work, the more money spent is gonna equal a better job cause its all in the prep.

to remove rust isnt hard bro...and you can generally pick up genuine replacement sills for wear and tear for roughly $100-$150 depending on where the rust is. As for your paint job generally you get what you pay for. Dont just go somewhere where the price is cheapest. Before i stripped my car back for a second time to change the colour and fit the kit, the blokes did a botch job and didnt smooth out panels, and they didnt take out the wiper washers on the bonnet even...just painted over it!!! Crappest job ever and got what i paid for. Learnt the second time around and got some dudes that use top paints and have a good reputation. Might pay a little bit more but it'll be worth it. So do your homework, and even call in and look at the cars as opposed to just calling up for quotes. Hope thats helps a little bit....sorry got no pics of mine but im sure someone else will!!!!

its a bit pricey...but not stupid. Tell everyone what sort of a job you are looking for...do you just want a quick fix it job so you can sell it or do you want a car show job? the paint i used cost a sh1tload a litre...and my car was done in a flat black with a clear coat finish. but again it was done by blokes who do a great job...so big reputation = good job = more $'s.

I dont want a show car job, I just want a nice job. lol if that makes sense. I dont need it to be flow coated 10 million times or anything like that. I just want it so people go "Gee that wagon looks good for a car thats 20 years old".....

ok at my work people come in an ask the same question! you can get a basic spray for $1000! thats just the spray!, now for the prep. eg, stripping, bogging, taking out lil dints etc, will all cost you a little extra! really does depend where you go aswell! some painters are careless with cheap jobs so you get over spray and 1 window sill red and the other one black! lol id say atleast $2000- $2500 for a decent job! that would only be the outer shell, this wouldnt include boot, door jams and engine bay!

Depends on how straight you want it. I spent $6,000 on mine and looks like it. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. I wouldn't spend less than $2,000 on a basic respay if you want it to look any good

It's not the color thats expensive david, it's someone who gets paid $30 an hour to sit there for days prepping. JET-6 has done some really good work, maybe talk to Dale, Matt.
