One and only question, Has anyone ever made a clame and they come through with the money. I know a few people with very high powered vl's on this site that are insured by Vigil. My one question is has anyone ever had to make a claim and if so got their money.

Yeah i'd be interested in hearing this as well actually, did they come and inspect your vehicle ? was your car modified in a way that would be 'defectable' if someone pulled you over?

Petro's isn't the sponsor.. just the person who brokered the deal and introduced Vigil and this site to each other... If the modifications are listed they will pay them all out. Speak to George and he will say that aswell. You can claim every single thing.. i know with my car i listed every single nut and bolt, every engine mod (legal and illegal) gave them brand names and everything.. and George was sweet with it. Told me if i made any other mods to call them straight away so they can add it to the list.. And if anything happened they would replace it to the exact specifications.. Even added extra value for the new spray job.. how many places will do that? And to answer your question.. I havn't had any one complain about them not paying out yet.. thats usually a good sign.. i could go on all day about my negative experiences with RACV and AAMI... (2 out of 3 not even my fault) Quote: Originally Posted by Anonymous BTW, in regard to the 'Three Point Immobiliser' can anyone tell me a Brand/Model number of an alarm which actually has this? with insurance of any type its all about "definitions" Vigil would be underwritten by another insurance or re-insurance co. if you want to find out what the go is ask for "the offer document" from the under writter or re-insurance co. if you can not get this get a PDS product discloser statment. I would be interested on what people have to say that have the insurance

So you're saying, if I have a non-roadworthy car (as in, has defectable, or items that don't meet emissions standards, or are not ADR approved, etc) that as long as they're listed, it's fine? I thought this was along the same lines as if your car has bald tyres in an accident, your insurance company will most likely not payout because of the cars unroadworthyness. I'd like to beleive they would lol, but I know insurance companies, and if they can get out of it, they will.... has anyone got it in hard writing, that defectable mods are covered, because im 99% sure all mods have to be 'engineered' or 'approved' - the insurance company covers them if so, but they simply assume you have arranged that side of things, so no questions are asked. What someone tells you over the phone, etc I wouldn't bother beleiving, it would have to be in writing. Nothing to do with claiming, but i thought i might throw the cat amungst the pigeons....... George himself told me that if the car has not been engineered by an authorised RTA/ ViC ROADS engineer it dont meat sh it. His exact words were " you can build a 12sec strip VL and keep it legal, be smart and dont listen to what others tell you" This he told me last friday. Having said that he is very reluctant to go and say "no we dont", which is understandable as they only isure modded vehicles. It took the best part of 5 mins to get that out of him......i just hope some people dont get caught out. Rob. Balls up in the air.

bumping this back up for more opinions on the below questions.. 1. Does anyone have an aftermarket ECU or other illegal, non engineered mods listed on their Vigil insurance policy in writing? 2. Have they been paid out by Vigil after an assessor has gone over the car, including aftermarket ECU or other illegal, non engineered mods?

Actually I'd rather send a list through IMO, insist on it. When you verbally tell them "yep my car has an aftermarket ECU and plenum, with a huge turbo" they can just say "yep for sure!". When it comes to paying you out after an accident "ah you didnt tell us it had all these mods!", and because they don't have records of it, it's your word against theirs about exactly how the policy works.
