I just wanted to know who has an XF throttle body installed on their VL turbo with the turbo throttle position sensor and turbo ecu. I know a lot of people have XF's installed with aftermarket ECUs and I myself have installed one on an na VL with no trouble at all, using the na TPS and ECU. I'm not talking about idle control or throttle cable issues, I just want to know how they got around the whole engine management side of the TPS. Mine revs sweet as in neutral but breaks down in drive when you put the foot down. I have swapped back to normal and everythings sweet. I have used the standard VLT TPS in the same position but obviously the higher air flow the XF is letting in compared to normal throttle positions is playing games on the ECU. How did you get around it.

""Well you use a multi-meter (set to ohms) to check continuity across the upper two terminals of the TPS. In the off position (throttle closed) it should read some resistance but as you slightly touch the throttle the reading should go to infinite. This basically tells the ecu whether you are at idle or WOT (Wide Open Throttle). I did the XF conversion on my VL and I got chiptorque on the goldie to calibrate it. If your TPS is out it will affect you base ignition timing and so on."" This is all I can get. You apparently need to calibrate the VLT TPS. I was hoping there was a way around this for the turbos. Anyone else.

I had no trouble at all when I did the conversion. The manual VL TPS only has an on and off.It is on at idle position. As stated just set it using a test light or multimeter so that as soon as you open the throttle off idle the test light goes out or the multimeter shows open cct.

spot on, but inherently it is a bit different with the auto TPS, which has a serparate switching device and plug with a 0-5V proportional output related to throttle opening. since both throttle bodies should be opening the same amount, or close to it, this should still not matter at all. if the TPS is calibrated (as described above) it should work fine. there is absolutely no reason it should break down and stuff up when you put the foot down. it doesn't let in THAT much more air, trust me. incidentally, considering going back to the RB25 throttle body on mine, i reckon the XF job lets in too much air at low % throttle openings. i mean, you're at 0 vacuum at 1/3 throttle travel, how ghey is that!

just make an adapter from thin plating and file the ford tps shaft to suit the vl tps. thats what was done on an aftermarket plenum/throttle body detup i had once, worked a treat!

Read above, the XF shaft fits perfectly inside the VL TPS which already has an adapter plate to fit. I was hoping you could trick the VL TPS to work without the need of an aftermarket chip. Apparently the XF TPS fits the VL TPS plug, maybe this could work....

Mate the XF TB shaft I have does not fit inside the vlt tps ! i had to file the shaft down to fit in the sensor there is a couple of ford TB'S that are available that look like XF's maybe this one is differant ! I dont think the mod is worthwhile to be honest ! pazzo runs mid 10's with the std one so yer ! then only reason i am installing is the spp NA powerported manifold I have has been modified to suit XF other wise i would be using std vlt tb ! over rated mod i think !

there is no need to "chip" anything. simply put it on and away you go. the early XF TPS would straight into the vl harness. if its the later one, you can just remove that sensor and fir the vl snesor, so you shouldnt have a problem either way.
