two 10s would be better in your case

10's are good for metal ect, 12's more for hip hop ect. Whatever you do get the subs mounted in a custom ported box and have your boot sound deadened

Really the answer is simple. the bigger the better. I have 4, 12 inch subs now. And want more. The more you have the more tuning powers you have, just tune it the way you like it!!

id get 2 10's if i was you with big wattage and amp's to suit to run 2 amps just get a 2 into 1 rca splitter .. i wouldnt imagen it would be too dear and runn the right size wiring tune your amp's correctly and will sound perfect.. or 2 12's > i got 2 12" clarion 750w subs running throw a 400w amp which is hooked up to my computer with custom bridged soundcard >;p its punchy enough to be too much and deep enough to vibrate nextdoors roof .. im happy, cant wait to get a bigger amp and MY EFFING CAR GOING! but thats just my life story.. ;p Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

hey guys, not really familiar with the car audio sides of things, and sorry to hijack the thread, but for trance/techno as it is fast what subs are good, as i dont really want the bass to be out of beat

Why settle for a 10inch when it's not going to go anywhere near as loud as a 12. 12inch is good all round because it is punchy and delivers good hard bass. I have 1 x 12" solobaric kicker square sub and have a decent amp running 1000w to it. It cost a fair bit but remember u get what u pay for. U pay peanuts u get monkeys.. A mate of mine has 3 x 10" fusions and his sounds ratsh!t compared to mine in both quality and volume and yes I listen to rock as well.. mostly metallica.. rob zombie etc. In conclusion! 10's are sh!t.. get a 12.. if not two. Baset - I dont understand what u mean by how u dont want the subs to go out of beat? They stay at the same beat whether it's an 8 inch or an 18inch.. But for trance/techno id get some mad splits.. and 2 x 12's or even better 2 x 15's as you want low bass.. not punchy bass.
