with that compression... make it a solid (crane 288) or hyd roller to make the most of your compression!

solids arent the be all and end all.
How much power are you expecting?

Hoping for around 500hp... The 288 sounds alright but you need something like a 4200-4500 stally i guess i will only be driving the car 2-3 a week.I might speak to someone about getting a custom grind, who can i speak to about that??

chev off road.... most engine builders.
500hp would be nice to have. Enquire on a nice roller cam.

if you want driveability its better to stick to a roller cam, if not just get a big solid :P

hyd roller would suit it, no adjusting every 3-4weeks (depending on how much you drive it) Crane have some nice grinds and so do COME Racing, tell em your specs and what you wanna use the car for and expect from it and they can give you a grind to suit or give you a custom

19-06-06, 16:42 GMT+10#10 its a bit ofa contradiction in terms big horsepower and driveability with aspirated v8s. if it is only a play car i would go solid. so many good off the shelf cams and its not really that hard to adjust rockers. doesnt the block have to get remachined to accept a roller cam ?

01-07-06, 23:29 GMT+10#11 why do you need the 1/2'' headstuds???? it would be an unnessasary cost, its not like youre pushing 15psi down its throat.
the crane 288 will get you your 500hp.

17-07-06, 20:51 GMT+10#14 4500 stall may be a touch big. 4.11 would be a good ratio for it. should go 11s in a vl

going by the moroso speed power calculator, 500ish hp in a 3000ish lb car will potentially be good for 10.3@130mph as long as you set the car up right...

I know the carby setup will be cheaper...I'm leaning towards the carb setup cause i think it will make more ponies then the efi setup....what a peoples opinion on this???
