Has anyone been using one of these on their RB30. I was thinking about getting one. My mate installed one on his LS1 and said they are supposed to be good for 8 rwkw. Pretty easy to install just require different sized belts.

You might pick up a few horsepower sure, but why. As if a couple of horsepower is worth running your alternator, power steering pumps, radiator fan etc at below rated speeds. They are sized to allow proper operation at idle RPM, of water flow, alternator charging and power steering assistance. Leave underdrive pullies to the Honda Civic drivers! My 2c on underdrive pullies anyway. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Totally agree with above RB30-POWER's comments. Don't know what they are worth but if you want cheap HP get a sneaky pete NOS set-up. Or an extra injector. Something like that will give you better gains than 8rwkw and will be about the same cost

They say its specifically to slow the water pump down, not to increase power, normally associated with the marketing of under drive pullies. I can see benefits on a constant high reving engine at extreme horsepower output levels, not for the average true street car, that could be sitting in traffic for extended periods.

OK, the LS1 forum guys are raving about these but they're obviously not your cups of tea.

more info would be good ... if they are cheap and effective I would probs look at getting a set, they look smick aswell. What are the ls1 boys saying about them? got a thread link tim? Dean

Can get one but my contact at rocket industries has said if I can get 20 people interested they will only be $180 each, as apposed to 280 individually. I'll try and track down some more info. Power steering, a/c, alternator pulleys all still spin fast enough for proper operation it just robs less horse power off the crank to do so. Slowing down the water pump has already been proven as a good idea, see RAJAB over drive water pump pulley for near $280 or $180 for a pulley that actually improves power. Kind of like shorter diff gears, engine still spins the same speed but spins the wheels faster and easier.

just get a davis craig water pump and thermo and don't bother with one of these

care to explain why..

Those parts alone would pay for three of these. Just for the record my mate installed one on his LS1 at the same time as a cam and went from 245 to 270 with a mild tune. He said the engine is so much more responisve now. You know when you floor it in neutral, it takes half a sec second to really start reving. You hit the accelerator and its at 5 grand, before ours would even think about it. I'm going to get one so I'll let you know how it goes. I just didn't think I'd be one of the first.

under drive pullys are a good thing on anything. and been a new balancer it will be beter than your 16 year old 1 that u got from the wreckers. when my new motor is geting built 1 of them will get put on. so im guesing that the same ppl who said these are **** wouldnt agree with putin in n1 oilpumps and water pumps either

Ask your contact if you can get ten for say $200 each or something like that, im sure you will find 10 people to buy them, but probs not 20... Put me down for one... Dean Has there ever been a gilmore drive pulley setup made for the rb30??? Dean

with a davis craig water pump and thermo you take off the fan and strip the guts out of the water pump so there not drawing mechanical energy when not in need the water pump always spins at engine rpm so you will save some power there so the only things still drawing energy is the alt which will draw a little more power due to the electric fan and pump the ac which you wont be running all the time and the power steering

yes but they cost more. $180 each if I get ten people interested. Has there ever been a gilmore drive pulley setup made for the rb30??? That would look crazy. Not much room between the radiator but.

A Gilmur drive would be good, but they a pain in the ass. They put amounts of load on the water pump if they are not running on center correctly, so therefore it wears the bearing inside the water pump if it only uses a single bearing. The belts wear out fairly fast and we've found that we are always re-adjusting it. This is on my old mans 265 HEMI. I have heard that they take away some power, but I suppose it depends how tight you've got it on. The whinning noise definetely sounds nice, though.

Rajab are the only people I know of that make a larger pulley for the water pump. These crank balancer/pulleys I'm reffering to are the only ones I've come across.
