you'll find your locks work best when you put the key in and turn it, making the door mechanism lock
haha just joking man
people do a million different things to lock vl's, but in the end a clever theif can bypass nearly anything

best thing is to put a padlock around your shifter if its auto... Once its in park, put the padlock between the lever and the top of the shifter and then the thing cannot be taken out of park... Walla!
But yes, central locking with no door locks is the way, but then there more likely to try and smash your window then...

best way is with a key....
best way to stop a thief getting into it depends if you wanna ever get in it again, if you dont, dunk it on concrete, inside and out....
if you do beats me....

I've always thought that once you block any access to the inside of your car to protect your steering wheel, sound system, gauges etc they will move to other sections of your car like your wheels and damage random things for the fun of it. So, you might win in one way, but having your panels kicked in is quite expensive to repair.

a good way is to shave the drivers lock and weld it etc etc, but leave the passenger lock standard just incase the battery dies.
thieves usually try to break in one door and give up if they can't get in, because they won't have the time to get around the other.
but the true fact is that thieves will get around your lock mods and break in if they really wanted to.
you can get super expensive window tint that makes the glass shatter, but won't break into pieces, the shattered glass will stay intact with the tint, and it'll make it harder for the thieves to rip the glass.
but yet again if they have tools and time to break in, it will we achieved no matter what.

what i have done is neatly and descreatly place a couple of kill switches in the car so even if they do enter the car it will be a bit hard for them to get her going.
shaving the door locks from what i have been told illegal, correct me if im wrong here.
get some good tint like mentioned above.
also as mentioned above again, the lock round the auto T bar, try getting a club lock between your handbrake and auto shifter, they fit perfectly and to get it off you would need to have tools with you.
but nothing is impossiable, if they want your car there is always a tilt tray to pick it up.

i reckon the best way is just get solex locks and a good car alarm with pager and loud as siren..carry the pager on you at all times.. soon as it goes off you come out guns ready not much point going too overboard with the windows etc i reckon.. coz as said before.. if they want it, they'll get it. And remember.. picking or ripping out a lock is probably harder than throwing a brick through the window anyway.
cheers.

05-06-06, 16:12 GMT+10#12 Central locking and weld those plate gaurds down, you can unlock Vl's with a ruler because that plate is so easy to open up. (learnt from locking my keys in my old vl numerous times LOL)
Get a good alarm and a kill switch or 3, or in the mean time pull out a heap of fuses... #3 fuel pump and take the ignition out as well ... Im being serious too

Yeah it's easy enough to get around, but at least it will stop a amature.
2500 of these things get floged every year, the first thing I did when I bought mine was drive aound to Brisbane Car Sound and get a quote on alarm.

06-06-06, 10:12 GMT+10#17 to be honest - I don't park mine anywhere that I'm not within a few metres of her. She's not a daily, so I can get away with doing that.

06-06-06, 17:58 GMT+10#19 I reckon disconnect the door locks, put the battery in the boot then get remote central locking and a fuel cut out switch under the bonnet or dash, then take out the back seat and fully carpet the floor and put a German shepherd in there.

06-06-06, 18:32 GMT+10#20 It doesnt matter what you do to it, nothing is stopping someone coming along with a tow truck and dragging it away.
If they want to take it, they will take it. no amount of security will stop them.
