if they have disabled the phone using it's IMEI number then it cannot be reversed!

I agree with ITSGMH... IMEI blocking is irreversable, need a new handset now And if it's not irreversable, I've never heard of it being done to date. Changing an IMEI number would be like changing a VIN number and getting away with it when your car's over the pits and it doesn't match the one on the piece of paper. A lot of work involved to say the least. What codes you're thinking of are probably the unlock codes for removing network locking on phones. They work, if you get the right code and enter it in. Fastest way is to reformat the phone software. This I know from experience Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

It can be reversed. You need to prove that the handset is your property ie receipt. Was it purchased outright or on an account? If you have reported YOUR phone as being lost or stolen and have recovered it then yes you can have it reversed. The only time you may fall into a heap is if you have made an insurance claim and you recieved a new handset. I know coz i work for Optus and actually had an imei unbarred today for a customer. Customer service normally id the customer check all the notes on the account. You need to speak to customer service the store cant do crap unless maybe you with Telstra. Pm me your details and i will look into it for you. Cheers
