just after some pics or ideas on what needs to be modified in order to fit a pro ratchet ****fer and retain the center console. the only pics ive seen are of cars with custom center consoles made to suit. any help would be greatly apreciated

if you wanna keep the standard console, your better off using a quicksilver shifter... i know morgz did have one in this old harlequin calais, and VL383 did a write up on how to install in the standard console Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

im planning on fibreglassing my own modified centre console to fit my pro ratchet in, so its all one piece.

i had to cut a piece out of my console to make it fit. cut up into the coin/sunglass holder spot. then cut some sheet metal to fill the holes on the sides to fit int the original trans cover. alot of stuffing aruond with the dremel though.

drill the rivits out of the original cover , get a sheet metal box folded up that will sit below/down into the tunnel , have some little wings on the box so they can be rivited back in. this way the whole shifter box sits down lower and the standard console can then fit over the top and make it look almost factory , except for the shifter itself

so how do the quicksilver shifter stick through without showing any of the ratchet mechanism. I've fitted a pro ratchet before so I know what you mean in the last post but do you just leave the cover off and the shifter handle is just longer. The mechanicals underneath must fit under the plastic console aye.

that exactly the look im after do you have any details on exactly how you done it "Wizbiki"? how much room is there underneath the tunnel before you hit the box? what are your dimentions of your sheet metal box?

I didnt exactly do it but ill give you my description of how to do it. 1) Take ur console cover off and mark on the trans tunnel where your old shifter lever lines up. This allows you to bolt the new shifter in the correct position so it is in the same location as the old one. 2) Take out ur old shifter by drilling out the rivets 3) The next step ull have to get a box made up with wings on it so you can rivet it in. Once you have the old shifter out you'll be able to easily measure up what dimensions to make the box. The depth of the box would be approximately 50mm. 4) Rivet the box in and bolt the new setup in so the lever is in the same location as the old one. Hope that helps
