call my mate weird tho i understand, i am a security technician by trade and when my mate bought his grp a he asked for a camera or 2 to watch over the car 24/7. i told him that i could set up his complete garage with surveilance no probs with our new oz vision cctv system, after him just purchasing this vl grp a for $40,000 imac] expense on security was'nt a problem. it took me 2 days to set the garage up, i installed 1 p/e beam across the roller door and 1 360 deg pir to cover the floor space plus 2 cameras watching over the red beast, i had set the pirs and the beams to start the cameras recording once and intruder had tripped any one of them it worked a treat!! 2wks ago someone tried to get in and take it they cut through the roller door once they had broken the infra red beam the cameras started to record and not to mention i had also programmed the inputs to fire up a 155db electric reflux horn after reveiwing the footage of the 3 theifs and getting enough ident to reconise them we burnt it to a cdrw disc and handed to the police they were caught 3 days later in the area... no damage done to the car just a new roller door.. my garage has a similar set up to protect my pride and joy aswell.. system cost him 4,500 - just to give yas and idea that if this world was a perfect place to live id be out of a job!!

We have similar setup in our home, 4 cameras; 1 at front door, one at garage/office/ back of drivway door, 1 of front lawn, and 1 of driveway.
Connected to a 200+gb computer thats sole purpose is for the camera's, they record as soon as there is movement.
They are infa-red/nightvision also.
Almost couldn't live without it now.
Edit: As far as cost goes, I wouldn't know., My old man and I are electricians and we set it up ourselves.

Sounds good, what sort of power does it run off? Ie. Is there a UPS that will control the whole system if the power goes out either maliciously or through some stuff up at a sub station?

28-05-06, 11:31 GMT+10#14 sounds like a mad idea the old security system.
would be awesome to have a couple of savage dogs that are released somehow when the cameras are triggered, would make good tv then
i may look into something like this, but i am like every1 else who thinks it will never happen to them

05-06-06, 19:58 GMT+10#16 Nice work on helping catch the little pricks. I tell ya, cameras are a great way to help safeguard cars - with 4 cars in the family (3 commies and 1 falcon) it didn't take us long to buy a security camera, especially since living in the northern suburbs of adelaide means car theft is pretty much monthly. They're pretty cheap too, and so easy to set up! If you've got a vcr and a power outlet, a camera should be top on the list for security!

09-06-06, 01:41 GMT+10#19 Jet-6 i have similar to that, though i bought mine as a package for nearly 10k, about 2 years ago.. Broadcasts to all the television sets in my house, i can view via internet from a private account which was given to me by the company. I highly recommend this company. There is over 8 cameras and it's all closed circuit. Worth the money completely. All saves to Files on the computer which i can go back and view.
For details of this Company privo me, excellent and affordable prices.
