Just read now in the local paper that this easternats was the most successful ever with 800 entries and over 30000 people over the 4 days. that being all good.
Now i heard elsewhere that the police said they were only checking the Sandown area anymore than they would usually patrol it. BULLSHI T! im sure we all noticed at least 3 or 4 cars pulled over in the same area just OUTSIDE easternats.
anyway i read on the see that with a JOINT operation by police and epa (they dont deserve capital letters haha) they checked over 150 cars. now although there were some people doing wrong like:
*7 unregistered cars
*4 driving while disqualified
*5 driving with out a licence
the bullshi t was:
*85!!! defect notices
*26!!! infringement notices and penalties (fines)
then the e p gay issued:
*17!!! prohibitition (i think thats the green sticker straight away)
*24!!! infringement notices (fines)
and this one pis sed me off:
*105!!! vehicles must undergo NOISE AND EMISSIONS TESTS
now to top it off, this sh ited me the most.
Mr Davidson an organiser of the event said "some participants were booked for pushing their unregistered performance cars from the track, across Racecourse Drive to their trailers in the carpark"
the police said " it is a public road and the owners were booked for having an unregistered vehicle on a public road."
after all the **** that goes on with illegal drags the police go and do this at an organised event. if our cars were all standard and legal why would we bother?

Would you like some cheese with that wine? Any event like this will attract police attention. I understand why they target it, but we as a group of car enthusiast have no political power to prevent such "Random" crackdowns

summernats police were NOTHING compared to down here.. summernats was great, people cruising the streets outside day and night, and not THAT many getting done..

Unfortunately guys the answer to our problem is Steve Bracks.
This is what we get for voting in Mr Bracks. He does not have the mental capacity to raise revenue for the State in anyway accept for increasing tax and handing out speeding fines, EPA checks and raod fines. He is the one reason why the cops are so hard on genuine car enthusiast now.
The Victorian Police Force should in my opinion take a good hard look at themselves as doing this at an Organised Event such as Easternats is a crime in itself.
I am all for "idiots" being pulled over if the are not following raod rules but guys at a track enjoying their hobby???
Cheers

The cops dont care.. they love it when we fire up and go..."Ohh thats bullsh1t!!!" They get told where to setup the station and who to watch out for.. how many of the post 1985 Easternats cars would be running cats? not many! You are all very very easy targets down there coming out of the gates.
If easternats did get shutdown (record numbers I dont think it will), but you recon anyone higher up in the state offices is gonna care? not one single bit! the money raised by easternats on that one day chicken feed.. melbourne would prob make that much per day off parking fines

26-04-06, 14:37 GMT+10#10 You might as well give up on this topic as you will never win
The problem with the government is it is easier for them to say no you cant do that and no you cant have that.
Rather than build a facility for us to use our cars that is open 1-2 nights a week and all weekend.
There are places to play all sorts of sport every night of the week but there is nowhere legal to take a modified car every night of the week (only calder and thats only 5 hours on a friday night and not everyone want to drag there cars)
I suppose some dumb sh1t wouldn't be able to help themselves and drop a skid when leaving such a facility and ruin it for everyone so it would be a waste of time.

26-04-06, 21:01 GMT+10#16 Has anyone noticed the huge crack down as of late?
I was at chapel st. on saturday and I lost count of how many police there were (a lot more than usual), they blocked off the road and were inspecting cars left, right and centre. I've also heard they had a big crack down in knox.
Also, today I was travelling along st.kilda road and I saw a large group of police pulling over cars and doing a quick check over things...

26-04-06, 21:20 GMT+10#17 And they wonder why people go and heave illegal drags and do burnouts on the street. Events like this give enthusiests somwhere to do all of this legally and yet they still get reamed. The system is ****ed.
