Okay i have built up my engine with all the usuall goodies for a strong combo. I am at the stage where im looking at fueling my engine. I have been seriously thinking about going straight gas setup. My power goal is to crack 300 at the wheels. to some i may be dreaming but i feel this is more then truely achievable with what ive got (on fuel anyways) Now my question really is can i get this figure on gas. From what i can gather from heaps an heaps of research is that twin b2s, a gas research 44cfm throttle and some sort of ignition control i "should" be able to get this. Im looking at this as something different but more importantly will it be a cheaper outcome, then having to fork out for injectors, fuel supply, and ecu? I already have a tank etc ready to be fitted if i step down this path. any help would be great.

thanks for the quick reply mate, im yet to actually speak to any local performance shops, (give me something to do on my day off from uni this week!) yeah ive been reading that those Ig5s are the bomb! are there any other forms of ecu that only do ignition? i would like a gas setup. it will be interesting to see what local shops have to say. ill keep this updated for other people.

i hear the E6X is just as good but its fuel and ignition so waste of fuel side of things but i would assume if they're using an E6X there wouldn't be any other alternatives for ignition only

also look at that XE sponsored by wogbarn that would have to be pushing near 300rw kw to clock low 10's as everyone should know anyway dynos are bull****, just go to times

thats my real concern that with gas it will be harder to get the power figure i want. and if i have to spend 2 grand or something on an ECU to run just the ignition i would be better off just staying petrol. as at the end of the day it will cost the same amount, and the petrol power will be better?

No, Gas is cheaper and has a higher octane rating (not that that means much) but you wont ever have an epa running on straight gas and i belive more power can be achived from a straight gas setup. You might need to change your cam also, more power can be achived with a cam designed for a gas setup, as the petrol ones are a little gas unfriendly.

mine made 285 RWKW on rajsb dyno. car ran 10.79 with that power with a 1.63 60 footer...

pfft haha gas is the way to go!

and gas just calms a cam down, makes it less aggressive..

remember my car is still a very mild build. No head work, baby cam, internal wastegate etc etc. there is a lot more then can be done

paul has easily proved there is alot more potential in gas just no one has had the time / money/ patients etc, but there are more cars flowing enough gas and air to reach well over it be it rb30 or not
