it can yes but you will be running 8ish:1 compression.. will be killerly slow.. If you dont want a turbo go for the RB25DE non turbo motors...

RB25 Turbo is 9.0:1 static compression ratio RB25 NA is 10.0:1 static compression ratio.

why dont you just buy a NA VL for the tike being seems pretty stupid to buy a 2.5L non turbo when you can jus get a 3.0L non turbo???? jus buy a nice NA VL until you can drive a turbo and either turbo that or buy an already turbo'd one
