well i did a bit of searching .. ppl have said their vlts run anywhere between 76 - 96 ? ...
so by that i could guess that setting my thermos to 80 deg should be about right ?

I would say turn on at 105c and of at 95c if your temp swicth is in the top hose/tank.the t/stat is a 76.5c which means around 90c/95c on the top.Much lower than that u run the risk of cooling the rad to much closing the t/stat and so on.

It should activate the thermo at anything over 87degree's on the rb30's.
2 speed fan is ideal, 87degree's low, 92degree's high.
81-85 is normal running temp.

my mechanic said he will set the thermo switch to 170*F which is 77*C, will he just buy a switch that sets the fans off at 77*C?
or is it controlled some other way?
cheers

the thermostat would still be closed at 77c so having the fans on is pointless.
you want the fans on when the thermostat is open, so around 85-90

Why not just keep the standard clutch fan?

if it comes on at 77 would it come back on when the thermostat opens at 85-90?

brilliant will set it to 95 that way the thermostat will be open by then and temps will go back to 90, would that mean my temp should never go over 95 if the switch is set to that amount?
