Hey guys I have a malpassi fuel reg (1:1) which is playing up.
Had it on the dyno, and is sitting at about 25psi on idle, and is running rediculously rich all through the rev range.... with mixtures getting to "around" normal levels at 14psi...
Usual symptoms of unburnt fuel ( black residue around exhaust)
When I prime the fuel sytem you can hear a "squealing" sort of sound as the fuel pressure increases...
I take it that it is stuffed.
Is there a way to check them out? Or are they non serviceable items - once its stuffed you throw it away.
Cheers
Mick
i am not sure i would bother with a malpassi, i have never heard good things about them.... i don't see why it couldn't be rebuild with new seals and diaphgram IF you can source the parts, and they are probably worth more than reg brand new...
i would put a gauge on it first though and see if it is the reg.
Yeah ive got a guage on it and its definatley buggered...
going to swap it for another guage one of these days just to double check.
I found out you can rebuild them, they use a double diaphram - and its pretty expensive.
mick just get the sard and be done with it dude... might as well just pay the money for a better reg... I know alot of people that use the sard and never had a problem with them..
yeah, I'd love to,... but the g/f's car required a couple of grand recently halting all spending on the VL
