i hate the hole "Yep.. My tacho has more "s then my car has clys" thing.. and i hate it how you see all the skylines with them mounted WAY to high.. And i dont look at might..i only want it for testing and tuning. So here i put mine.. and my shift light is in the aircon duct. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

mounted on the strut tower with a nice big hole in the bonnet nah but seriously the best place for a tacho is where you dont have to divert your eyes to far from the road!ive always liked mine on the steering column, but everyones different i guess. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Heres a Pic of Mine when I used to have my VL, till FCUKheads hit me and caused it to be a writ-off, but anyways here it is: I liked it there! And I wish I still had it! LOL! And heres one Pic of where it is now, in my VQ Stato: Sorry about size! LOL! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I don't understand the need for one. There is a tacho in the dash. Without everyone calling my a hipocrate, I have a monster tacho. It is mounted just about the head unit and I NEVER look at it. The only reason it is still there is because I use it for the shift light. What you do is buy a stand alone shiftlight. The one that uses the pills. Then you zip tie that to the steering column and point it straight at your eye balls. The tacho in the dash is more than adequate and is in the PERFECT position.

"The tacho in the dash is more than adequate" Sure?? I always thought that over time, the Factory Tacho's always became inadiquate? I might be wrong though.

Hey SCAMER, how come you got defected with the tacho being where it is in your SS? I thought that its ok the cause its not above/higher than the dash?! I understand in the VL pic, it sits higher, but whats wrong with the VQ location?

actually in other cars ive found an aftermarkert tacho to be more accurate, i remember in my falcon, the stock one used to take heaps longer to go from high rpm to lower when shifting, and the speco one used to do it staright away whoever said about mounting it on the strut tower with a hole in the bonnet I SEEN THAT DONE to some little jap piece of ****... it was so funny btw, i wanna get a shift light for my car, wher is the tacho wire under the engine bay?

its a brown with red stripe wire on the right side (battery side) of the car on top of the alternator, mine is cable tied to an unused plug resting on the radiator tube.

Who knows.. there cops maybe cause they can.. yeah in the vn ss was in same spot exactly inline with the dash tacho's but guess they couldnt get me for anything else (lucky they didnt look under the car and see my exhuast sitting barely 1" off the ground) they got me for that.. so i moved it now and moving the 2 other gauges on the bonnet.. Thats where it is now and no problems with it there got a legit r/w for it also.. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

For the argument about accuracy. Why do you need to know the nearest 100rpm or whatever. 99% of cars on the roads don't need them at all.

The best place to put your monster tacho is in the bin.

somewhere left of the wheel is good, gives you room to place others such as boost, o temp etc

Why be negative? Didnt you mothers ever tell you that if you dont have anything nice to say don't say anything at all?
