what parts would i have to change inside a n/a motor to make it turbo??? or would it be better to just get a rb30t instead cause i want to get some good power

you could put your turbo on a n/a block but if you want good power you would be better off with a rb30et block the only difference is the size of the top of the piston the n/a piston has a slightly thicker crown which give a higher compression the cams are also different you could only run 12-15 psi max on a n/a block because of higher compression turbo block u might be able to run more boost (this is both with cooler) of corse your block wont last long with unforged pistons and high boost

Pistons, cam, and oil pump

theres plenty of people with converted n/a around (including me) just get a rich tune and your right

so if i was to change pistons cam an oil pump i will basicley have turbo motor. but how much psi could it handle just cause it was a n/a before does it make it weaker???? and also changing the oil pump if i cant get a turbo one wat can i use??

n/a pistons are if anything a little stonger because they have a thicker crown you dont NEED to change the oil pump but the turbo one is slightly larger i think some gtr or rb25/26 pumps will fit (im not 100% on that) the n/a motor will take less psi than the turbo motor because of the higher compression i would say u couldnt run much more than 15psi with standard internals and you will have to have an intercooler

the blocks are the same just the pistons cam and oil pump is different as stated above one thing you should check is if you have a series 2 block because the series 1 n/a block dont have oil and water holes in the block for the turbo

its sII but really is it hard to turbo a n/a block and wat are the best pistons to use???

should i post my input or not i turbo'd my engine back in september 2005 ( hi-comp ), after making a piping kit up for my cooler, ofcourse a stone was in one of the pipes, went and sat ontop of a piston... i didnt blow it tho. my second engine on the other hand is another hi-comp, running anywhere between 8-12psi at any given time, handles it beautifully and makes anywhere from 180-195rwkw take ur pick man, id recommend hi-comp whilst you source either a original rb30et or get one built Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

What kind of power do you want to make mate?

the n/a cam actually works better than the turbo one, so keep it.

n/a cam works better maybe on 3 psi using the turbo cam allows you to pump more boost into it. don`t bother with a rb30et as said there no stronger and you can make as much power if not more out of a stock n/a motor.

well according to my mate who worked at nizpro for 3 years from doing a change over from n/a to turbo they made more kw's by using a n/a cam than turbo, with pistons changed, same compression everything. slightly more kws.

yeah that is with aftermarket comp and fuel system yeah or at low boost?

screw that get a wade stage 2 cam, when i was using the n/a cam it would only make power up to like 4800rpm now ive got a wade stage two im holding power alll the way to 6000rpm i am running microtech, aftermarket fuel system, and low boost tho... with my old set-up (turbo computer, n/a cam, 11psi) on the dyno sheet the power went to 150rwkw straight off the stall and sat on 150 right through the rev range. now with the new set up (microtech, wade stage2 cam, 6psi) it still jumps to 150rwkw off the stall but keeps going up to 170rwkw on almost half the boost.... it seems to me that the n/a cam creates a massive flat spot. just my 2c

no comes on at exactly the same time...

i think the NA cam lags until the turbo actually spools up? do u think so CALAIS_902?

n/a cam = cant hold power at high rpm... look N/A cam new cam this is what it seems to be to me.. there is a difference between n/a and turbo cams for a reason... simply one is made for a turbo and one is not. please note second dyno sheet is a wade stage 2 cam not a standerd turbo cam Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
