Is it selecting Neutral properly?

The converter is slotted all the way in the shaft? Like locked in? If it isnt all the way in and you do up all the bolts on the bellhousing it really casuses problems....

To add insult to injury, the torque converter neck is hardened whereas the pump gears are not. If you've hurt the neck then the pump gears are certainly damaged.

there is a slight burr on the gearbox, i just slid another converter on and there seemed to be no drama. where can i get this converter neck fixed? will my local engineering(tailshaft specialist) shop be able to handle it or is it a specialty job? cheers leigh

The neck should only need polishing, I'm still worried about the pump gears. Get someone to check it out before causing more damage.

the neck is actually squared off. its not round anymore.

Thank fark my mate was with me when we bolted my motor back up as he'd done this before so knew to manouevre the converter until it drops all the way in as Stone Racing said....

Been there, done that. Nothing better than having to remove the tranny again. I mamaged to stuff the convertor neck too. Was a prick to get back out.

hahahha did the same thing with dads vk. Rebuilt the engine after i cracked a bore, chucked the converter on tried starting the engine in the car nothing happened, pulled it back out swaped the pump gears around with my other trimatic box and it still wouldnt turn, measured the pump gear width and it was about 3 mm wider than the other one, deburred the other gear threw it in and it turned
