Hey all,
Posted a thread a few days ago about the problems i was having with my brakes.
Been trying a few things but have not had any success yet and its really starting to piss me off so hopefully someone can help me.
Car is a VL turbo with VXSS brakes at the frount and drums at the rear. The frount brake pads are 3 months old.
Problem(s). Brake pedal travels to the floor, not braking as well as it should.
What i did: I bought and replaced my old master cylinder with a new one (1 inch). Bled the brakes at work with one of the other mechanics. brakes arn't spongy. Still having problems. Take my drums off this afternoon thinking a mechanism may have come off. All in perfect working order. Replaced vacumm booster tongiht with a new one a mate had at his house. Before when car was turned off the brake pedal was still remaining soft as if it wasn't getting rid of vacuumm. Now it goes rock hard like its supposed to after 2-3 pumps on the pedal once the car is off. However when driving its exactly the same. Brakes kick in 3/4 of the way down. Am almost touching the floor.
Tonight decided to do a few tests. Stuck my head out the window and hit the brakes as hard as i could. The frount brakes did not lock up at all where the rear right hand side brake locked up. Also the BRAKE warning light comes on when i slam the brakes on.
Brake fluid is on the max mark and has't droped a bit in the last couple of days.
Please need some input here. I really don't know where to go from here. Tommorow i'll inspect frount brakes and try to determine whats going on but i really don't know. Maybe slides are stuck only allowing inside pad to contact disc on the frount brakes??? I double checked there were no clamps, etc on the frount brake lines and they all appear in order.
The car when i slam the brakes on is still heaving foward as if the brakes on the frount are somewhat working however the car used to stop on the spot. Its also incrediably dangerous to have the rear brakes lock up on as i found out tongiht so i desperately need this fixed.
