Hi guys as u can see ive been having troubles with my car. racq couldnt tell me what was wrong took it to my uncle who i think is pretty good, he cant find anything, he said i could have blow the engine. is this possible. it didnt smoke or run sick or anything, just turned it off then went to turn it back on again. keeps turning over. he said he tried to start it with a auto VL ECU non turbo. Ruling out that it is the ECU. could it start a VLT 5 Speed? even no its a N/A Auto??. HELP!!!

i dont know if it helps but i ran a vlt 5speed ecu on my 3l auto n/a and it ran. idled low as to be expected but had no power as the injectors are diffrent, it was only an exprement and the n/a ecu went back on...

thanks, ive checked basically everything. spark fuel everything i think it could be the wiring? so it cant be the engine?

to answer your initial question, yes - an NA ECU will start a VLT whether its auto or manual... i know everyone says this but have you checked out the CAS? by the sounds of it, this could be your problem... then again, if it started with a NA ECU then it might not be... its hard to diagnose a problem if you arent too clear on what exactly you have tried

If you've got fuel spark and everything ... then it runs! the injectors may be pulsing, and the plugs may be sparking ... but something aint working ... Perhaps fuel pressure or something ... check fuel pump, fuel regs, fuel filters for blockages etc... That only leaves you with timing ... Jamie

fuckin VL's... what about your AFM? they can either be dicky and make the car run very rough or just make the car cut out alltogether

first of all, how did this come to be? have you just worked or it or were you driving and it just died? secondly, what DOES it do, like will it turn over when you go to start it? cos if the engine isnt seized up, then it should run even if there is engine trouble, mechanical that is.

odds are its not the engine cos its turning over. sounds like its got to do with the electrics seeing as you put in the tacho and then removed it. check all your fuses, make sure you have enough fuel pressure (doubt thats the problem)and ensure there are no other loose wires or whatever.

yeah well... after i put on my new turbo and intercooler set-up, we used all new parts including an AFM... cut in and out and wouldnt hit boost, after a while the sparkplugs must have been a bit clagged up and it started to clear itself and run - well, the car starting pulling hard, and was running how i wanted it to then died again and wouldnt start at all, replaced the AFM with an old one in the shed and she ran like a dream again... in your case it could be anything... im not the best person for this stuff... im trying to help you out with what i have come across with my car... hopefully it helps... might just have to fork out and take it to a performance shop or a mechanic that has alot to do with VL turbos...
