My uncle had a Brocky equipped VL Calais V8 back in 88.
But I really think it was Summernats 2002.
I really just bought one purely on looks.

The driveline They look alright, but it's essentially a good driveline in a shoddy car.

i needed a car for a school project back in high school year 10/11 for Automotive class and my teacher suggested the vl commodore was easy to work on and would make a great first car so i grabbed the old n/a bt1... through working on that car (whilst geting my l plates, and later p plates) i discovered this site and read for a bit then signed up... then this site convinced me i needed to buy a vl turbo haha, and as soon as i could afford it... i did, haven't regretted it since

14-02-06, 09:56 GMT+10#14 i liked the look of em, i thought initialy they had the old 202 3.3litre motors in them, when i found out they only had a 3litre in them i was shattered, but i got over that very quickly, and now im driving my 3rd vl and have never looked back since

14-02-06, 10:39 GMT+10#15 As Jordy said, driveline without a doubt. Without the RB motors, i wouldn't have even considered, VL's were my step up from the Datto 1600's. The VL is relatively easy to work on, can produce good bang for buck, and the VL shape doesn't look to shabby.

14-02-06, 14:03 GMT+10#19 For me the VL was a step up from the VH Royale.
Much better looking way faster and it revved like hell.
On to my third now and my new White VL Royale is pure heaven as far as I'm concerned. Will be even better when I get a RB30et into it.
Have to say though main reason for the VL's is that VN's look like **** are to big and sluggish and dont ride as nice!!!
