Hey guys, just need a few Ideas here and there... I'm thinking of going straight Gas for my VL... It will be a High Performance VL so I just trying to prep out the Pros and the Cons... The Motor will be fully forged rebuild... powered by a high mount GT35/40R... Ideas/Thoughts? Pros Vs Cons... *brainstorming* Pros: No surge tank, No fuel pump, No injectors, No computer, No emissions, Police/RTA Safe from the EPA... Gas is cheaper.. Tidier Engine bay, No fuel rail's on the plenum... mehhh Cons: Not sure... Less power/Quickness...? Wouldn't have a clue so therefor I'm asking... 1finding someperson who knows gas well enough to do it right first time. 2costs *looks at GAS747* Thanks Guys Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Make up an attachment that will screw onto a BBQ bottle, hold the BBQ upside down above the filler point, open the valve, and there ya have it.... an LPG jerry can. p.s. this has been covered about 90 times already. I know for a fact i have put up exact costs and parts needed for a conversion in other threads.

Number 1 problem is finding someone to tune it properly. And Gas has a higher octane level then premium unleaded so as for making your car quick its a better fuel. And as you know, Muzza's making plenty of power and running 10's all day long on street legal tyres, and uses the same tune on both the street and the track. And no surge tank etc, but replace that with gas convertors, gas research throttle body, lines, tanks, all fittings associated with a straight gas setup. Safe from the police and Rta - Still falls in the same boat as a highly modified vlt on unleaded. I mean, when you get to the EPA gas has no emissions so you'll be right... But just cos your on Gas doesnt mean the pigs aint going to still send you there. Tidier engine bay - You've got to find somewhere for convertors, new pipework, gas lines, etc etc. Which just shows that the man behind Muzza's car knew exactly what he was doing, cos that engine bay is a work of art. Costs are probably the same as building a highly modified vlt on unleaded. I'd spent just over 7k on parts alone and its still not right. It doesnt help when you get it built by a fucktard though. If I could do it all again, Id probably stick with unleaded, but thats just because my cars giving me the ****s at the moment when she's right it should bring a smile to my face.

Ive heard when your engine backfires when your running gas it aint the nicest experience Personally i was 'going' down the lane of gas as it has alot of positives attributes associated such as most the ones listed already. When i was doing research and speaking to people about building the motor i felt that it would be a high risk engine, meaning no one knew what the final product would turn out as, eg could run like a pig, or could make good power. Either way it convinced me to stay with petrol as its not too much of a hassel to convert to gas later down the track anyway, even if it does mean i need a different cam etc. Tidier engine bay is not necessarily true as you have to find enough room for your gas converter x2 and mixer x2 and if you have a look at one of these items there not small. i think gas747 has had them hidden under the plenum side of the bay, looks a treat. What ever your choice might be i wish you good luck, but for now i'll wait until theres alot more people running gas. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

What ever your choice might be i wish you good luck, but for now i'll wait until theres alot more people running gas. if it backfires it can rip your intake or filter box apart, no biggie for the nissan you'd only need one mixer (ie one throttle body) gas just evens out with price, if you had a good petrol combo you will need: fuel pump (or pumpS) regulator, injectors, throttlebody, ecu (most likely aftermarket) and tune... This is very expensive stuff, and dont forget when its all done that its still going to cost $1.30+ a litre for premium. gas youll need 2 converters, throttle body, gas tank and lines all installed, and a tune, these few bits arent cheap either, but when its all done, 45cents a litre. Features of the IG5 include up to 22 ignition timing MAPS, with one every 500rpm, and 32 adjustment points per MAP for load adjustment. A choice of MAP sensors is available to suit the type of engine you are using. 1-BAR for aspirated engines , 2-BAR for supercharged or turbocharged engines up to 14psi boost , and the 3-BAR sensor for engines up to 28psi boost. Al ong with this there are correction graphs, with 32 adjustment points, each for coolant temp , air temp , cranking , and rotary trailing split timing adjustment for engine load and rpm.
