I'm in the market for a Walkinshaw and was just wondering whether I could gain any advice as to what to look out for during an inspection.
How can I tell as to whether I'm looking at a shonky mock up? I've read several comments that there could be quite a number a copies around? I'd hate to get stung paying upwards of 40K for one of these.

Just grab the engine and vin numbers and ring hsv melbourne with the build number and they'll tell you if its original.HSV:03 9265 9500.
Also check km's if they have been clocked back. The way to do that is checking simple wear components.E.g. gear knob, steering wheel, pedals, carpet ,interior etc.Its a rough judgment but anything with 20-40k on the clock should be mint.Check the screws that hold the instrument cluster in.They should be untouched.Good luck

Have a good look underneath. Some so called 60 000klm cars told a different story under there.Check under the oil cap.It should have roller rockers.I believe the shocks up front have thicker cross section on the steal rod area than other cars.If it does not have a log book filled out by the original owner with the appropriate service tags filled out. Dont trust it.No log books mean it may as well have a million klm.Steering wheel wear is a good point.Revs check.Try and trace previose owners.I think tracing the previose owner is the best bet.If there trying to hide there identity be a bit carefull.Dont be afraid to ask questions.Your about to hand over a lot of money.
