ha,ha it will make it less laggy m_tomley and it will make more power, I noticed aswell when you go up to a 3.5 dump that you get that metallic tinkle like when you run no exhaust at all cheers darren

How do you go a 3.5" dump if the outlet off the exhaust hsng is only 3"? Like on the 35/40. Do you just get them to flare the pipe out?

ok thanks for the input it sounds like i should go 3.5 from what every one i have talked to sorry i was told it might make it a bit laggy but i guess that is what you get for repeating every thing you hear lol Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Turbos engines love free flowing exhausts so i would go the 3.5" My next engine i will doing 3.5" from the turbo to the cat as the gases are alot hotter and desnser comming out of the turbo and 3" the rest of the way back to cut costs, but if its only $100 extra i would do 3.5" all the way... Dont forget the cat! An exhaust will only flow as much as its smallest diameter (point).. Make sure you do the cats as well... You would be suprised how many people put a full 3" system on their VLT and leave the standars 2.5" cat.. How much boost are you planning on running??? Cheers,

yea the fell peter said there is a pipe that goes perfectly from 3 to 3.5" and it will come straight of the turbo

Yep we did 3.5 to where the cat "would Be" about halfway down the car. 3 only just fits over the diff in a R31 skyline. Don't know about doing it on a 3540, how big is the flange plate, maybe you have 1cmof 3 inch and weld the 3.5 over the top, that's what we had done on our wrx years ago cheers darren

yeh with turbos it doesnt matter how big you go.. like even go a 5inch exhaust lol.. reason people go with a 3inch on a reasonably sotck car as the exhaust gases are forced out n matter what where a naturally aspirated engine needs backpressure to make power..

would there be a noticable difference between 3" and 3.5" I have a 3" from turbo back, now would it be worth another 1000 to get a 3.5" from the turbo back. Im only running a t3/t4 but in a few months ill be running a 3540. Is a 3" exhaust going to limit my maximum power output with a gt3540, or will the effect be negligible? or should i go a 3.5" dump and keep the rest 3"? will that do anything at all?

get as big as you can afford. bigger is better trust me. with my old to4 i went from a 3" system to a 4"dump with a 3.5" system and the response time was dramatically reduced.the turbo just spools up sooooooo fast with a big dump pipe

here's my old 3.5" dump/front pipe i had behind my stock T03. worked wonders. i'm thinking i'll just cut the top off it and get it modified to suit my highmounted GT35/40.. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
