Its' come the time to finally buy my first car, and im excited. The first thing i wanted to say is that i want a nice car that won't always give me trouble, and that will last. Heres the deal.. My dads mate is a crash repairer/motor techincial and is good with cars all together, and i have a choice. Mazda Astina 323 or Holden Calais VP Mazda Astina 323: Info: Body: 5 Door Hatchback 4 Speed Auto 4 Cylinder Petrol 1.8L ABS Air Con Central Locking Electric Mirrors Power Steering Power Windows Those are just the basic features, plenty more. Now The VP Calais: 4 Speed Auto 6 Cylinder Petrol 3.8L 4 Wheel Disc Brakes Alloy Wheels Cruise Control Electric Mirrors Heavy Duty Suspension Remote Locking Trip Computer Air Con ------------------Again just the Basics Now both prices of these cars are the same, as my dad has been mates with this bloke for ages, he offered to sell us the Astina Cheap. I am weary that the Calais will take more petrol, but i am also aware, if i crash the Astina, repairs are very expensive compared to the VP. I like driving V6's as they have the power and are fun to drive, but i also want a good car. I am having trouble making the right choice, Considering insurance, repairs, services etc. please help me.. If you could tell me what would be better for me and why, i would appreciate it so much..I am not a professional at this kind of stuff. Thanks Thanking you in advance. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I just need advice and directions on which car would better suite my needs for petrol, insurance, rego and repairs when broken.

In that case I would recommend the Astina Each car has its pro's and con's VP - Cheap widley available parts (wreckers) Astina - Expensive parts (genuine) I would go with the Astina personally - if you dont drive like an idiot, the car should last fine, maintain it regularly and resale shouldnt be too bad. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance would I actually own an Astina personally.

LOL same here. theses are both so different that i cant see why you cant make up your mind. vp will use more fuel and will probly break down more. astina will be better in all areas, if you crash and have insurance then who cares if parts are expensive? also more likely to have an accident with the vp cos unless you are a wuss (which i am not implying you are (though i cant believe you are considering the astina at all, jk)) when you go driveing with your mates im sure you will wanna get a little loose in it and that is how many accidents happen. i know from experience, trust me.... anyways by the sound of things, ASTINA!

well first off ur on a holden site so obviously u like the commies and the VP would be a good first car, yeah it will chew more than the astina obviously coz the VP has a bigger engine but if it were me id be happy to pay more in fuel for a car like the Calais, itz clean and sounds like its been looked after, toss up between, More/Less Room Better/Worse Sound Quality More/Less Fuel Consumption Bigger/Smaller Car More/Less Powerful Car Older/Newer Car In the end be happy with what u pick mate coz it will be u the one driving it and a lil hint or reason to get the VP mate honestly what chick will look at ya in an astina, honestly most chix love commos and they have the 2 extra doors and bigger back seat lol, good luck....

Best advice is. Which can u afford ? Also how long do u plan on owning the car? If for a long time , which car do u prefer to be seen in? Cause a car does represent caracter. Eg guy drives a hyundie excel guy drives a mazda rx7 think about it

More advice please, is petrol such a big deal? plsu wouldnt the astina be more for insurance?
