Just thought i would start a thread to show everyone out there,
there is more to life than Gt3540's and Gt42's, it get's boring when you
look at the range of turbo available in american.
http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=191384 (http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=191384)
Sound performance build turbos with specific turbo for a 3 litre motor(2JZ)
using mixes of Precision/garret/innovative stuff...awesome, they have just built a turbo that has made over 1000rwhp but spools like a 74mm turbo..awesome
http://www.forcedinductions.com/productsgarrett.htm
These guys modify The generic Garrett Gt42 74mm(102) with up to a 82mm front wheel, the price converted is quite good aswell, probally around $2500 landed
If you look at there other items you will see Innovative, Thes guys started
turbonetics and then sold out and started this. There specialty apart from
race turbos, is the fact you can have up to a 80mm front wheel in a T04 frame turbocharger, they have new Gt wheels aswell. So you can have a smaller exhaust housing to aid spool but still have heaps of top end
The Gt74 with q trim(or the new X) with a .81 to4 housing seems to be a favourite. They are very compact and light, like a 3540 or to4Z.
If you look at the other list you will see Precision, they use Garret cores generally and make there own wheels and exhaust housings. Eg they do
a Gt42 with a 76mm front wheel(74standard) and smaller T4 exhaust housings
to aid spool for a 3 litre six cylinder. Because in australia we are stuck with the big A/R ta45/51 exhaust housings
Hope the first link works
And opens a few eyes to the options out there
cheers

have you heard anything on the master power turbocharger's. was looking through one of the link's that had up and am fairly keen on the master power T70(850hp rating).
From all reports they are a good turbo for the money
But are hard to get rebuild/parts, but at the price who cares
buy another one, it's not like it woudn't last for years and years anyway
cheers

I deal alot with www.forcedinductions.com (http://www.forcedinductions.com) and we export alot of their turbos oversea. They are VERY professional and build the baddest custom turbos I have seen. We use their GT42-76 and 80mm unit on our Diesel engines. They also have a new custom S88 turbo unit which is a drop in unit for the GT42 and bolts into the same place. It uses the same T6 flange as the regular GT42 and its rated more then the (GT47-88, 1500hp) 1575hp . Soundperformance is just a precision dealer, they do not build any turbos in house.
As for masterpower they have alot of good units. They have 2 websites...www.masterpower.com.br (http://www.masterpower.com.br) and the other is www.masterpowerturbo.net (http://www.masterpowerturbo.net).
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
I'm using a master power T70. Tiny bit laggy in the manual on a standard manifold and head but it comes on boost VERY hard and fast and makes power all the way to 7000rpm.
BUT it has done about 3 dyno runs and prob 5000km's MAX, running between 18 - 22psi, and it's already done a turbo seal.
I was very impressed with it's performance considering it's price but i'm begining to think that you can't go past Garret quality.
Anyone had a similar experiance with any of the Garret range ?

here another company that is doing some new/good things
I have used only garret and never had any probs, But i know Precision was
having trouble holding some of there stuff together not long ago
i think you might have to be a supraforums member to view top one, because
it works for me

I looked at full race and looks like they are just resellers. I don't see any custom turbos on their site. As for PTE, they use all garrett cores, so I guess it would be garrett failures and not PTE.

Are they resellers?,As far as i know(which isn't much ) they were doing
some housing, comp cover to the Gt42 for Sound performance which spooled like a 74mm but made 1000rwhp. . Hard to tell being over here, there are so many resellers over there.
I know PTE use garret core but am 100 percent sure they are different somehow

Yeah sound peformance is just a reseller for PTE, I know that as a fact. PTE does use Garrett cores, but they cast their own compressor and turbine housings I believe. The GT42 you are refering to is probably the new modded versions with long shafts. Forcedinductions.com builds one with an 80mm wheel now that put down 1143rwhp on a 346ci LS1. Still spooled like the standard 42's. Amazing indeed. They also have some new unit that a customer of their's just posted on another board this past week. The turbos are drop in units for a GT42 and this particular model (S88?) made 1491hp and 1297 tq on a LS1 as well.

I'm am sure the cores are slightly different aswell, or that is what
it seems listening to the supra guy's,
Yeh i looked at FI.com';s 80mm Gt42 when i neede a turbo for my drag rota.
If they had something like what i have now that spooled the same(94mm exducer, .91 T6/TA housing) but made more grunt i might be interested in the future

Just a little info, but we recieved one of their (forcedinductions.com) S74's this week (Tuesday) and bolted it up to a customers 331 Dart block mustang. Car layed down 998rwhp at 24 psi. These turbos are quite impressive, but the A/R is a little large.
dont forget the yank dyno's read a "little" differently to what our typical Dynamics would.
There are definately some people/business out there doing some great stuff, but also there is some great stuff in Aust too.
Just be careful with your choice of comp wheel. To big and your going to be battling surge.
I found myself with my old setup/GT30, smaller comp wheel and the thing would still have made the smae peak power, and come on a reasonably sooner (as ive seen on other cars).
Pity i didnt know the right people to talk to initially... but we live and learn

We have a small shop in south east USA (state of Tenn). We do alot of custom work (turbo kits) for imports, domestics and turbo diesels. The dyno used was a Mustang dyno, which reads lower then the typical dynojet 248's. Its our version of the dynamics dyno. We just recieved one of their custom S88's as well for a drag 2JZ. Should be interesting.
I spoke with the owner which is Jose. they are looking for distributors world wide. If someone brought those wheel to AUS and had a machining facility, they could make some nice loot converting GT42's and some other units.
just got some info on that turbo that spooled like a 74mm and made 1000rwhp
sound performance wouldnt give out any wheel sizes but they did tell me a bit bout the motor and the turbo
motor was a 2J of course
carillo rods
JE pistons
272cams
ported head
1mm ovasize valves
turbo had a rear AR of 1.01
its based on the gt42 frame size
runs a 4" dump flange
makes 30psi by 5000rpm
but the price is $2695US for the turbo alone
so all up you are lookin at about $3700 for the turbo alone then approx another $150-$200 to get it shipped here so thats $3850-$3900 for the turbo alone
