Hi guys,
Just curious as to what the value would be of a prototype Walkinshaw with the following options:
* Deleted rear quarter windows.
* Full leather Interior which includes door trims and rear head rests.
* Velour headlining, Velour Sunvisors and full carpeted boot (Calais Spec)
* Electric Sunroof and Mirrors.
* Factory Optioned Larry Perkins Engine upgrade.
* All supporting documentation to verify the above options.
I know its not the answer you want, but I saw a VN Group A prototype for sale a few years ago and they were asking $20,000. It didn't say what km were on it (i'm guessing they'd be hard km's too).
To me this car would be worth more than any other Walkinshaw built. You can always find one with lower kms on it but not one that came so well appointed from the factory.

I'm guessing it'd go for whatever the owner wants. But looking at the asking price of prototypes for much rarer cars, the price has been very similar or lower (such as VN Group A, EB GT, BA GT, and even phase 4 - having said that though, they only made one production phase 4 and 3 prototypes). It'd be interesting to know how many prototype walkies are out there. I know Prototypes 1 and 2 were almost the same as the production cars. The differences I noticed were mags, steering wheel centre badge and of course the C-pillar. Just for interest sake, I know proto #2 was fully completed before proto #1 (the bodykit wasn't ready on #1 when 2 was finished).
At the end of the day, I reckon we should be lucky to be given the chance to own any of these great cars.
Dont want to open a old argument but walki's did not come from hsv like that. The one at the nats with all the above options had paperwork from hsv stating they would allow the changes to take place before leaving the factory.Hsv did not do the sunroof, some other company was mentioned.Im not doubting the value of this car as the changes where made during the building of the car which would make it very unique but it wasnt hsv doing it.They just allowed the work to be carried out.Well thats how i understood it to be i might be wrong.I took a photo of the letter i will try and find it.Imagine if you went to hsv and through enough money at them to allow you to change the interior and add some bolt ons to your new clubsport.Would that make those changes hsv factory ones.Im not sure.
It does sound good doesn't it. It's definately unique then. I have a large picture in my computer room at home that I bought a few years ago thats of a walkinshaw on grass, it has the closed in c-pillar and sunroof but I cant see the interior. I wonder if this is the same car.
blownhsv, It is the same car that you have in that pic.
sly, HSV are not a sunroof fitting company nor were they interior trimmers so naturally the work was contracted out. Basically like all other car manufacturers they just design and determine what components go into the car and get it made external and then fit the parts where they can. HDT on the other hand during there later stages under Brock ownership actually had a Sunroof fitting station on site. Current HSV sunroofs are fitted on the Holden production line.
The real difference with this car is that these items were fitted at HSV's factory and not done later by a dealer offering aftermarket options to a buyer. You can get a sunroof or Leather interior installed in any new car from any dealer today if you pay for it.
With the clubsport scenario then yes it would but good luck trying as you will find they are not really that flexible anymore. Not that they ever were back then either. The enhancement packs on some of the early models (mainly VN-VP) were about as flexible as they got.

Thats a fair reply corsa. I guess the hardest thing to convince people off is that it truly is factory optioned as that seems to have people split 50/50.I would say it has to be worth more regardless becouse it was done at the factory.Just a matter of finding a buyer who thinks the same. Something so unique is hard to pick as there is no comparison.Mine is bog stock 8000 klm Original tyres and all.Would i prefer this one ,Im not sure.Down to personal taste i guess.
Personal taste counts for a lot. I like to have things that are different (hence the F20 in my garage) so i would prefer a Walkinshaw specc'd like this one or one of the genuine Calais Pack version over a standard one regardless of the kms on it. At the same time i can appreciate an immaculate low km standard spec car although i probably wouldn't want to own it.

I guess i bought mine thinking of resale as well.(having just lost 30 grand in two years on my last car).Safer with the known cars than the one offs.F20 is different that would have to be worth a bit.
F20 has never been for sale whilst in my hands but i suppose like everything if someone made the right offer then i might have to let it go but then i'd have the problem of what to replace it with.

Corsa,
I don't know what your interest range in cars is, but here's a few alternatives to think about if you ever decide to sell. Some may be sold now though.
1. GTS/R #000 (was for sale awhile ago, special build for wheels magazine).
2. VN SV91 (1 off, probably will never part with it though).
3. VC Brock #000 (sold about 2 years ago for stuff all).
4. Black VN Group A was for sale (2000V8 from the toohey's promotion)
5. Another black VN Group A was too that had been in A/C storage for 12 years (special build for Crown Prince of Johor, not one of the tooheys cars) I spoke to this person myself, very nice car but I turned it down as I needed one as everyday vehicle, he also had a very low km rose grey SV5000 for sale, hadn't even been driven at night yet.
6.There is a Factory Blue VR GTS for sale at the moment as well, pretty rare for australia as this colour was used for NZ.
7. I've seen a VG Maloo for sale that was painted in the HRT colour scheme from factory, very rare. I believe only a few were finished this way.
8. There was a Mobile/ Brock HSV VR 5.7 litre for sale a few months ago, only 1 of 3 built. It is basically a VR GTS I think but with different badges and interior.
9. 220kw VR CSV
10. 310 kw VS CSV
1. Too new for me.
2. VN SV91 (1 off, probably will never part with it though).
3. Thought about it at the time but had just bought another Brock and yet there was an even better one for sale that i should have chased up instead and both went for less than the VC.
4. & 5. I would rather one of the factory White ones. Was one for sale in last two years
6. See number 1
7. Was a few different paint schemes available for them back then. Did look at buying a HSV enhanced Berlina with the race team warpaint.
8. Build #3 was interesting car as to why they built it when they gave #1 & #2 away in a mobil oil competition through Kmart. Did have the full size ad they hung up in the stores but i think it went walkies.
9. & 10. Have followed the CSV's from the start but VT onwards lost the style of the original kit.
Think i will stick with the Rare VL's having owned four of them so far and there is a few more specific VL's i would love to add to the collection. I will branch out of the VL's one day for the right car but with so many good VL's to choose from it might take a while.

I actually saw what was supposed to be one of the white VN Group A cars. It was for sale at Summernats 11 back in 97/98. Strathfield car sound had it. Had I of known then it was a Pilot car, I would of snapped it up. It was repainted Duriff Red for some reason. I only briefly checked it out coz I thought it was just another Group A not knowing it was a rare car.....damn.
