http://photobucket.com/albums/d92/VL...20rb25de%20vl/ (http://photobucket.com/albums/d92/VL_RB25DE/the%20rb25de%20vl/) ok i have been posting here for a while now and i just wanna show me car off ok about me car...... i bought it in 2001 at melbourns cheepest cars it did have a stock non turbo rb30e with 160k or so on the clock and it was as cleen as cleen can be (detalers i guess) bought it home and installed the pacemaker excracors, as it seemed to have the exhaust leak like they all get. during this time i thought nothing else could go wrong service every 10k (got there in approx 3mths driving 130km everyday) un till i moved in to town, now the problems started. first i had a ded miss down low un till i got over 2k of revs than fine, plugs leads nothing fixed it. i startd at my local holden hyundai suzuki delership as a first yr apprentice this being 2002, the miss turned out being no 2 injector burning the pincil off $95 later cost price for a change over injector and $15 each for cleening it was all good, or was it, also during this stage i bought a tacho dash and all switches and stuff to make it run like oil sender etc.......also for rego that year i got failed on my std exhaust so a 2.5inch system was orderd. middle muffler and nothing else (did have a gutted cat, no preformance gain and sounded crap so nice new one was required.) after manny km's later the head let go, this is my first mastake, i being a young farmers son i put chemmie weld through the system, this held for approx a year, when i turned in to my 2nd yr i found once again the oil was back in the water. another bottle of chemmie weld was required and i was all set. during the time of the first crack and the motors final days it clocked up 40,000 km using chemmie weld. i finaly decided to put a head on the motor so what was ment to be a night on the piss turned in to LETS PULL MY CAR APART, 10oclock start thats PM after my final drive with the orignal head (run around after women and finding a bottle-o that wasnt out of beer (well not so much the beer more the womes drinks as allways) we tore in to it. pulling the rocker cover of was a shock, as the internals was cleen, i mean cleen like a new motor cleen. finally finished at 3am and was glad more drinking was required. the next well afternoon after a small sleep test drive time, it was all good. but whats that sound she will be right. few days later tick tick tick and verry lumpie idle, the bottom end didnt handle the added compression. luckley my friend had a spair rb25de laying around with complete computer and loom. bought that ok the car was neally out of rego at this time so no rush 3 weekends later (more drinking and slowley working on it) the 3l came out. striped down and some stuff went on to the 2.5, including engine mounts, alternator at this stage, powersteering pump and modified vl bracket, all else was a 2.5 std stuff motor in and time once again for a test drive problem's became evidant battery wasnt charging didnt have a tacho or coolent temp oil pressure on my gauges. slight modification to the looms and all is good minus tacho. now its 2005 neally 2006 and the car now has 245k km's tacho is now opreating due to the circut i made from a link from this site motor now has new water pump thurmostat also a timing belt and now its running sweet thank u for reading all this crap my car is the following using the vin thing i found in the tech forum http://calaisturbo.com.au/vincodes.php Your car is a Holden SL/Executive Commodore Sedan From the factory it was equipped with the Non-Turbo Nissan RB30E producing 114kw at the flywheel. It was produced in 1987 at the Adelaide plant with a serial number of 33747 Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I know people were always saying 2 me ,why not strap a turbo onto mine (it's a twin cam 3 litre but),well I tell them 3 reasons :-fuel economy , insurance & the fact I run high compression, well I could run around 6 PSI of boost & have it tuned 2 run that engine,I'd need 2 chase up at least a T4 turbo 4 it as well. Some1 said just to rebuild the spare motor I have sitting around but I said I'd need 2 chase another head up, they said ,just use the single cam head, well a properly matched turbo, along with the twin cam head would go nicely plus after over 10 years of hype about the RB30ET (yawn!!!) I'm kinda sick of a single cam engine. THese guys who tell me 2 do this stuff have their hand on it coz they don't do any of the work themselves (like most people I know) & after 2 years the motor I have built hasn't had any problems, they do rev out nicely & develop power 2 the rev limiter with the standard R33 ECU whereas the single cam engine stops at around 3000 - 4000 RPM,it runs a K&N air filter. Well,if I was going turbo I would've bolted an RB20DET into it. Has very good acceleration & have kept up 2 one of those new Alloytec 190Kw V6 Calais when we were overtaking somebody 1 day,I was sitting at about 150 KPH in 3rd gear. Well , people R going 2 more diverse engine conversions these days by fitting Gen III V8's into VL-VS Commodores,I reckon people will start fitting these 190KW alloytecs into ur VL's ,etc,I think there's supposed 2 be a twin turbo version going into the Torana, imagine fitting one of these into a VL?
