Hey there guys and gals...........Just came back from Oz after spending a few days at the Supercars Big Pond finale at Phillip Island. What a show!!! If anyone has the urge to go and see a track then this is the one to see. Pre purchased tickets were $75 Australian, $10 and $15 respectively to get into the pits Sat/Sun. $10 for parking. Merchandise was well cheap $20 for a sweat and $7.50 for caps etc. There are untold places you can watch the racing from, they pretty much allow access to see every part of the track via a perimeter road. At 4.4km long there's a lot of open space. We sat on the hairpin on the second corner and from there could see the first corner taken at 265km/h, the hairpin at 140km/h, and about another 1/2 of the track tho you do need binos to get a closer feel but hey, you could see the cars. Theres room enough to see the front straight, its not packed out for corporates. You could take in BBQ's, beers, dogs (in fact everything they say you cant take in - you can!) There's a camping area nearby and Cowes is only 10 minutes away with plenty of places to eat and drink and a supermarket. For us Kiwis, Phillip Island is about 1 1/2 hrs from Melbourne but they have this excellent road system out of the island onto the main highway - we never feel below 80km/h outbound. Their whole game is up there, cant speak highly enough of the place. 10/10 Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
