Yeap a family friend's grandfather had his VL Calais (white over silver) stolen from royal north shore hospital car park last night - while he was looking after his wife who has cancer. ****ing pricks, he got $1500 in insurance for this thing....he was the original owner. He is paying huge dollars trying to save his wife and now he has to somehow buy a new car Life just isnt fair.

Yeah hospitals are really dodgy areas to park, nobody looks out for theives cause they don't expect it, theres usually heaps of public transport so the losers can jump the train and drive home with a free car, some people are in a hurry to get to the hospital so they forget to lock there cars etc. and they are generally big areas with very few people around at one time. I always hate parking there or anywhere for that matter.

No sh!t sherlock. But BOOF308 does have a good point, maybe like a 'spoted' thread for stolen cars.
Like this, say I post my White/Silver S2 Calais as stolen (Caus it was, just before newyears) from a certain area, and ask if anyone see's a similar car in the area to give details like the rego or something - incase it's been rebirthed.
You can check if the plates belong to that car with ease, just call Vic roads on 131 171 and do a check for finance or if it's stolen by the rego.
So lets say such'n'such says they saw a car like that with plates 'XXX-XXX', and I ring that number, do a check and the plates belong to an astra or something. I give the details to the cops. And maybe I might get my car back
Maybe it would'nt work as smooth as that, but still worth thinkin about.
