heya, i enquired the other day about the price of a gearbox kit for my n/a 5spd gearbox and i was basically told that its cheaper to put a short shift kit in then buy the kit i was intending to. Basically i was just intending to replace the syncros and the bearings, but whats the difference if i get the short shift kit instead? thanks in advance Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

they are 2 different things. A rebuild kit will have all the seals and bearings, synchros are extra if you need them, but they should be able to lap yours back in unless they are really stuffed. A short shift kit is just a short throw shifter, makes for quicker gearchanges, but that has nothing to do with rebuilding the box. you dont even need to remove the box to fit a short shift kit.
