R154 Supra boxes are super strong, rated at 550HP for a 5spd manual - but have been known to hold fine behind up to 700HP+ They are getting pretty rare and cost a bit these days. I have one in my garage and just picked up a full conversion kit from Dellow Automotive, cost me $1600 for the kit + the box. T5 are the go if your not getting huge power, they are much cheaper...

Try ringing Dellow Automotive, Castlemain Rod Shop - they both make all sorts of gearbox conversion kits, they'll be able to quote you a price over the phone. www.yellowpages.com.au (http://www.yellowpages.com.au) to get the numbers. Also I've heard the name Mal Wood mentioned quite a bit, think he may make some sort of conversion kits too but I don't really know what they are...but give em a call.

Mine runs a supra and has been behind my engine for 5 years ( 210rwkw) with no dramas and car is tracked about 8 times a year. If fitting a T5 in it needs to be a T5G otherwise the shifter will not come out in the factory spot and can foul on the hand brake . adam

I put a T5 in my EFI 5.0 VL with no problems with shifter location and wasn't a T5G. A Falcon T5 is a cheaper alternative than the Commodore V8 one. essentially the same box, with different lower gear ratios and different rear extension housing mount, but I've seen V8 T5's going for top dollar and around $2500 for a complete conversion. Falcon T5 kits come in around $800-$1000 cheaper and are much cheaper to buy on their own. If you go by "Street Commodores" gearbox guide some time ago, Falcon T5 6.5/10, Commodore V8 T5 6/10. As mentioned, basically the same box. 3.08 speedo drive can be easily put in for right gearing for speedo. As you already have the T5, you will need to locate the correct pedal Box, ie Vk V8. There is a hole in the firewall for the clutch cylinder on the sixes. You need to make this hole about an inch taller as the V8 pedal box has a snout on it in the clutch pedal area that goes through this hole in the firewall and it will not go through without modification. Column needs to come out to make the job a whole lot easier. You also need cross member, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, speedo cable etc, plus you need to have the front half of the tailshaft resized as the boxes are different lengths and yokes are different. There is also a big brass washer for the snout of the clutch pedal on the pedal box that goes on the engine bay side, plus 2 rubber grommets for that. I then bought the shifter plate for the console from HDT and had it painted to match the interior colour.

just had a cable made. piss off the sender on the side of the box, but keep the speedo drive inside if the ratio is the right one for your diff ratio. I went to a place that manufactures speedo cables and told them what I need, cost about $70 for a cable to suit. You will also need a H2 pulse generator that attaches to the box, then the cable attaches to that. The pulser generator has 3 wires, earth, power and reference which go to the computer. So, leaving speedo drive in place, you should be given a piece of cable innard about 2 inches long. This goes inside the speedo drive, then the pulse generator goes onto that and attaches to the box. You then attach your speedo cable to that pulse generator, so you now have a signal to the computer and a cable driving your dash. check http://www.brockcommodores.com/vbulletin/index.php and fo to tech articles secyion. There is a write up on the EFI conversion process and you can see a pic of the pulse generator in line with the speedo cable when the car still had trimatic fitted, but you can see what it looks like.
