not sure but if you can get a vs then ur doing well, obviously go with the VS as its a newer model.. but at this price you're taking a risk, even mid 90s hsvs are going to cost more, u will find some in this range but theyll most likely be thrashed to **** and/or too many k's.. you could drop down a model and pick up a mint vp clubby. do u have to get a clubby?? beautiful manta here: http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsa...ch_distance=25 (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=2633239¤t_rec=14&used_rec=2&total_rec=16&sort_type=&total_rec=16&sort_type=&price_min=10000&price_max=15000&make_id=81&state_id=7&search_distance=25)

changes to the VS series 1 over VR are mags, grille, wing, 250km speedo with hsv insignia, interior trim colour, new security dash badge (cant be pulled off without destroying it) fire extinguisher. theres more fiddly stuff but thats a few easier ones. series 2 VS got a few miner things over series one as well.

Yeah the Manata just doesnt do it for me! VR's are around the 13-15 range. Ive seen a couple of Vs' but yeah they're probably smashed up? Its either the CLubby or an SS. But damn ppl are overpricing SS' if you can get a HSV VP or VS for 12-14 why would you pay 13-16 for an SS??

vt series 1 ss starts at around 14g...

imo theres just no reason to buy a clubby over an ss in the vr-vs range... what are you paying for? just the name. You want a hsv for all its extras like more power, crazy leather interior e.t.c The only good hsv's in them models are the senator and gts with their stroker engines, full leather, unique wheels and kit e.t.c other than them it cant be justified why you'd pay an extra 4g or so over an ss like you said. Heres one for ya, done a few k's but he says its immac and that is VERY cheap! http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsa...ch_distance=25 (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=2597952¤t_rec=7&used_rec=0&total_rec=7&sort_type=&total_rec=7&sort_type=&price_max=15000&make_id=81&model_id=546&state_id=7&search_distance=25) or you can get one of these, i love sv5000s, best looking kit on a vn, doesnt look stupid, and they are nice as.. id want one of them if i couldnt get a senator or gts (or grange ) http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsa...ch_distance=25 (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=2525885¤t_rec=1&used_rec=3&total_rec=21&sort_type=&total_rec=21&sort_type=&price_max=15000&make_id=81&state_id=7&search_distance=25) EDIT another very nice one and a top price too, get it for under 10g with bargaining http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsa...ch_distance=25 (http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=2664479¤t_rec=3&used_rec=3&total_rec=21&sort_type=&total_rec=21&sort_type=&price_max=15000&make_id=81&state_id=7&search_distance=25) Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Just keep in mind that these cars are getting old too. Just because it is an HSV, don't think your buying the best. I traded my manual VR GTS in back in April this year coz I had nothing but trouble the 2 years I owned it. It was a 1 owner (Bought it from the Holden manager) 67000km on it. Very good condition it was like new. But the problems never stopped. A mate of mine was unfortunate enough to buy it from the dealer, but is lucky as it came with the 175000km warranty. His problem is that since buying it back in May, he's only done 2000km because it's always back at the shop repairing another problem. This car is completly standard but a factory dud.

This Holden manager I bought it from had logbooks and reciepts for maintenance. He told me it was because he was fussy, turns out the car was a heap of sh*t. Starting was the first drama. Was told it was battery (replaced it) then told starter motor (replaced it) coil and ignition (replaced) plugs and leads (replaced) problem never went away. Tranny jumped out of gear (was told I wasn't changing properly (insulting me) they drove it and confirmed problem (fixed) it drank hydraullic fluid but never leaked it. I'd top it up every month. No reason was found by anyone. Suspension knocked on drivers side front. No problem according to the speciallists I took it to. Brakes never pulled up properly. Took it to 2 brake speciallists. No problem with it even though they agreed it didn't feel right. Body develloped a very noticable creak. I was told this was due to torque. This car was driven carefully and not hard, so I'd hate to see was a worked or blown one sounds like. Car was always 3/4 to nearly H on temp gauge. Fan was OK, replaced water pump and flushed radiator and had it checked by radiator speciallists and other shops. It did need flushing but overheating never went away. Car always felt extremely hot. On the highway the gauge would move up as soon as u were behind another car or climbed a steep hill. Power steering failed A/C failed (twice) cruise control would always work, then not work, then work. My walky is older, I've owned it longer and never had these dramas ever. Mate I could ramble longer with these troubles but it's just too damn long. This car was also a low Km one.

blownhsv what sort of problems should I be watching out for???
Sorry mate, I told you some of my dramas instead of what to look for. Maybe find out where the car was serviced and see if your allowed to view the cars history (with owners permission) this way you might be able to see whats happened to it. This low K'd VR GTS was by far the worst car I've ever owned, I was always under the impression that they are the best. I had a VN V8 Calais with high K's and no log books years ago and it was pretty reliable.

Damn man your scaring me, I was gonna stay away from a VLT cos I thought that would be trouble!!! However my mate had an awesome VS GTS (GTS11). Was unreal quick as, heaps of work and he drove it everyday to work!!! Was valued at $29,000 then it was stolen at work. Had 1 of a king special key in glove box alarm. No insurance........No Car!!!!!
Damn man your scaring me, I was gonna stay away from a VLT cos I thought that would be trouble!!! Nah mate, don't be scared about this. You can learn from my mistake. I was just unfortunate and bought my car when prices were still up for low K'd examples which made the problems worse. The other 276 VR GTS's may have been perfect. I have mates that have got GTS's as well (VP and VS) and they are great cars. I had a VG maloo, 2 Walkies and a HSV enhanced Calais & all were prblem free.

There is a bit of difference between an SS and a clubsport, being built by HSV for a start which means better interior, rims, suspension which means its gunna handle better, but in reality you are probably better off in an SS as far as insurance and thieves,I love the black Pantha mica VS/SS and the front bumpers are better than clubsport.

Still havnt found one yet guys. I've probably been a little too patient as now I dont have a car cos my sis got her P's and took my old car and ive already sold my wagon to my old man. I need electrics and a sunroof. Ive seen a couple of sweet VN SS' but no power in the car!!! On24's Im lookin for something a little more orignal lookin that that dude sorry! Looks hot tho!! Im waiting for this SS in Warrandyte to come down a little. Its Panther, with full system, TV w/ VT GTS wheels (Champagne) Strated at 18k now is at 16k so maybe when he gets to bout 14 ill jump at that!! This car hunting thing is rediculous!
