How can i tell the difference, do they have differnt codes on them? My one has RP71C #2 on the side on the side, but my mates has rp71c on his aswell and his is an rb20det gearbox, mines rb25det. Any help would be great thanks

size, and weight. the 25 box is a lot bigger around the middle section, with more webbing. if the two are out of the car, put them next to each other, you should see a definately size difference. also the 25 box will be about 60kg dry weight (very very hard to lift yourself from the ground) while the 20 box will be about 35kg (should be able to lift by yourself off the ground)

Here's a picture of the box. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

that looks like an RB20 box - but it's hard to tell without the two next to each other. the 25 boxes are thicker i think, around the middle section where the gears are housed. although there is a lot of webbing on that case..... hard to tell just from the picture. edit: i don't know if the codes are different, i would assume they are.

I am also 1000% positive its from a RB20 i just brought my RB25 box inside the house and compared it to the picture, now i have a sore back. i wish i had a laptop so i could have done it the other way around. If that box came out of an R33 the car may have been auto from factory and whoever did it opted to go the cheaper option of the two.
