Love fishing.
Botany Bay around the sticks and oil drums in late november till mid feb are excellent for kingfish. Even trolling along the container wall with live suid is great.
Around the wedding cakes in sydney harbour is also a hotspot. I find under cooks bridge is great for jewfish and clifton gardens isnt to bad.
My favourite spot, but a bit dangerous (50m cliff) is diamond bay... at eastern avenue. Some big big big kingfish. Biggest to date comes in at 27 KG's.
Eagle rock of a night time is good for monster Jewfish.
I also love rock fishing at Gary beach for salmon.
Rob we should go fishing sometime.

27-10-05, 17:03 GMT+10#13 this is a pic of a mate with one of the mackeral we get. you throw the lure 10m and you usually have 3 or 4 of these things fighting for it.
its nothing to bring in 20 of these babies in an hour

27-10-05, 23:41 GMT+10#14 yeah man i got a boat, nothing special its a 15ft with a 60hp on the back, its good to learn in,the other day were were comnig out the heads of botany bay going to the hump own at wollongong(about 1 hour ride) but the swell got out of control and for the first time in a long time i got sea sick, chucked up and came good, came back in and only managed 2 flattys.
ill be going to wanda beach(cronulla) with fresh squid for jewies in the next few days, captain cook bridge is going off with soapy jewies(3-5kg) but at wanda is where you get the 10-25kg mothers, the only problem is you get more bronze whalers than you do jewies.
in5ane,let me know when you wanna go and we'll slow trawl for kingies on live yakkas....hopefully hook the big boys.
biggest flatty to date is 4.895kg(100cm)
bream(1.4kg)
jew(16kg)
squid(2.1kg)

28-10-05, 00:17 GMT+10#16 spearing fish then feeding them on a long line whilst bleeding and sending injured tones through the water makes you shark bait....did you know a shark can sense a drop of blood within 5klm radius?
thanx but id rather get fish off a boat/land.

28-10-05, 00:23 GMT+10#18 freediving is how a real man fishes. it's the underwater equivalent of hunting buffalo with a spear. very very tricky too, much harder to get good at deepwater spearfishing than it is to fish, which is mostly luck.
having said that, i like fishing too. don't have the fitness any more for freediving

28-10-05, 08:52 GMT+10#20 Rob we definately have to go. Probably in the comming weeks. I might be able to show you a trick or two
I know Botany Bay very very well. I have been out with the master Scotty Lyons there about 9 times now. Some big ****ers along that container wall I tell you... I found fresh squid (we caught them the night before at abbotsford) to be the best. They aren't called "knigy candy" for no reason. We had 15 squid and we got 15 kingfish... Yakkas are good though.
Ill give you a call next week... I have a weddnig this weekend.
