Hey all,
I'm going for a new set of slotted rotors in the near future, and I'm a little confused on pads. Can someone recommend me a set? Needs to be fairly good performance, low dust/dustfree, and not cost the earth. Around $100 for a set of good pads sounds good to me.
Cheers,
David

i use bendix metal king on slotted rotors. supposed to be a performance pad but they need to be pretty warm to work well. the first corner in the morning its flat out stopping the car. personally i hate them and theyre ****. weve just changed over to ferodo at work which are really low dust and seems to give good cold stop. lucas also are pretty good with dust. bendix ultimate are **** unless your pulling up from conrod straight. for the street they are just puss. i had a set and chucked them out not long after i fitted them. if you do mostly street driving you dont want a pefromance pad. you will hate it

Hey mate go Bendix advance their semi-metallic pads, their ceramic with titanuim strips in them abit squeeky until warmed up but pull up ok when cold so u dont have to worry about warming them up but when warm pull up bloody awesome also hi-temp brake fluid makes them pull up better too

ultimate are crap unless your doing bathurst. you need to get them VERY hot. on any morning you can barley pull up for the first few corners. I had them for 5000km and chucked them out. and they are noisy as crap and will chew up your rotors. and they are as dear as poison. those bendix advance that SHREK said are a good pad but a few hard stops in succesion and the pedal goes to crap.

yeah, i say just get bendix performax/advance/, reliable, not to expensive, and don't need to be a million degrees to retard the car.
my official take is still
"standrad vl brakes are dangerous and ****e, no pads can fix them!"
i've got great brakes on my vl, and honestly, i would have sex with them if i could!

31-10-05, 20:05 GMT+10#15 the entire system mate,
i drive my car everyday, everytime i stop i have a grin from ear to ear.
love my brakes, most sucessfull thing i've ever done to the VL.
turbo's are great, but if you can't stop they are useless.
can't beleive brakes are so overlooked, good brakes can bring so much confidence to your driving. (not to mention they have saved me a few times as well from dodgy drivers that like to pull out of nowhere, must be blind?)

31-10-05, 20:41 GMT+10#17 What are the advance/performax pads like for dust?
Slotted rotors + good pads should set me right yeah? Also getting new drum linings, new bearings, cal rebuild kits, etc.

31-10-05, 20:49 GMT+10#18 All bendix pads give a fair amount of dust.
I've got Bendix Advance on the rear of mine and they dust quicker then the front does, front has some QFM pads in them, say they are the **** on the packet, but i dunno. All i know is they give bugger all dust, yet still work fine.
I don't know how a pad claiming to be a performance pad can give bugger all dust?
Benny01, running skyline 4 spots with vt master and vs booster combo. sounds simple enough yet works insane. If only i could make the rest of the VL feel so modern and powerful. Going to look at modifying the clutch master and slave next, see if i can bring that up to scratch.

31-10-05, 21:07 GMT+10#20 87Calais on here has Bendix Ultimates, they dust like crazy.
Fairly sure it was him telling me they are crap when cold as well.
I never thought they were that bad at lower temps from what i've read on other forums, but i have no first hand experience to say either way.
The amount of dust they give off is the scary part!
