Interesting read OMY-11s thanks for the link.I cant see anything wrong with the claims he has made or it proven to be wrong.
In zoom awhile ago the VL PANNIC was said to have made 580+rwkw but it has not been used due to tyre size and as TUFBT-1 has said.

21-09-05, 21:18 GMT+10#12 hsvsux usually keeps his under 7k with standard rods and his engines last forever, with constant track work and big boost. Do a quick search to confirm what his actual rev limit is.

RB20DET. 2 cams = More revs 8200 is nothing huge for a twin cam.
Thanks SIKNOS that makes me feel better now . What rods are you using. Shot peened stocko's ?

22-09-05, 16:50 GMT+10#18 7150rpm puts the RB30 piston speed at around 4000ft/min, which is around the most you would want to push a standard production motor too. (Without a full prep, balanced, lightened internals etc to the engine)
Sure you can go more, but the 4000ft/min is considered a practical safe standard limit!
An RB20 at 8700rpm has a piston speed of around 4000ft/min.
So you can't compare one engines rev limits to another unless they have the same stroke.
Its the shorter stroke of the smaller capacity RB engines that allows them to rev safely. The twin cam head only helps by being able to flow more air, but more so they have lighter valve springs because of the smaller valves, this alone reduces alot of the eneergy required to drive the cams and valves.

22-09-05, 17:20 GMT+10#19 The crank is ground and balanced with shot peened rods. Think I might keep it to 7120 though.
Thanks for that info but. Good stuff.
