Hey guys, ive had issues with my brakes for a while now but ive just ignored it which is very dangerous. And its only since the other night which has made me want to fix the problem. The other night i dropped a friend home and coming down his street "a hill" i came to a red light finding that my brakes had gone. So luckily i pushed them to the floor causing my backs to lock up and i just 90 degree turned to a stop. This was in the rain to which made it a lot more scarier. Anyway sorry bout the essay. Well i had a go at bleeding my brakes today and when i undid the rear drum nipples no fluid would come out. So i just bled the fronts. And now my brakes are worse? Does anyone know why this is so?

can you hear air come out ? if you cant might have blobked nipples you do no that some one has to crack the nipple why the other hits the braks to the floor and holds it untill the nipple is tightend right?

well i am a qualified mechanic. the corrosion and crap the builds up from crappy old brake fluid sits where the cups dont go and when u put you foot down the rubber cups go over this crap and it slices them up. it dont take much crap to kill a master cylinder. you can come and see my brakes any day and theyre great. you should read up more tech articles in you car mags ay. then see how right i am

Mate yeh i know its dangerous driving round with dodgy brakes, but i cant exactly afford to get them perfect right now ive got **** all money and i need my car to drive. Trust me im being as sensible as i can trying to avoid anything. Im sure people have been through similar circumstances.

Do you think its my master cyclinder. There is a **** load of air in the system, but it seems like it wont come out no matter how much i bleed. The thing that has me stunned is there was no fluid coming out of the rear nipples. Oh and by the way ive taken it off the road since what happened the other night, luckily no one was round. It made me realise how dangerous it really is. But b4 that i just had spungy brakes never a failure.

the only way air can get in is if the resevior runs dry or if you release the pedal with the nipple open. but even then it wont suck much in and will just dribble back out. even try cracking the lines at the master cylinder and let it dribble. highly unlikely there will be air there. as for not getting air out the rears maybe theyre nipples are blocked. try unscrewing them all the way out

Yeh no fluid is coming out the nipples in the rears? So if just untighten all the nipples and just let the car sit there checking the fluid level all the air will bleed by itself?

the air will not always just bleed out by itself, if your lucky it will! pull the rear nipples completely out, screw a drill bit down the nipple from the back with your fingers, clear the nipple from the front with a pin, then screw it back in and try bleeding it again! try get hold of a vacuum bleeder, they work well!

If you have old fluid then bleeding them won't really fix it properly. If you think it's only air in the lines that is the problem then replace the fluid, and bleed. If it's a master cylinder problem then all the bleeding in the world won't fix it.

Don't listen to vlsleeper he dosen't know whats coming out of his mouth! First you gota find how the air got into the system in the frist place.. Did you run out of brake fluid? Brake Lines have cracked, Bubbled and leaked? ( Total loss of brakes, Loss of presure) Master Cylinder piston seals are f ucked and not creating pressure (No Air) Try having a look under your car and the lines, if u can't leave it too a mechanic to check it out! whens the last time ya fluids been done? try getting another person in ya car to press the brake pedal down, as he is doing that open it up and close again when he release's ( Requires some talking between each other) Make sure your brake nipple is un-done, and remeber to watch you brake fluid so it dosen't run out while doing the process and use CLEAN brake fluid when re-filling otherwise u will f uck ya resivior piston seals etc!!!

Nah ive completely bled new fluid through, it all started when i changed my pads, for some reason i remmeber taking the fluid line off the caliper i cant remember why, but ever since then ive had spongy brakes, and then i bled them and they worked fine for a while then the spongyness came back. Looks like it might me master, how much are they to pick up?

Filo4You: if you cannot find the problem i suggest taking it to a pro to help you out with your problem they will be able to tell you right away what the problem is, you can then either get them to fix it or get the parts yourself and do it yourself.. as for a master to buy one brand new if you dont know anyone your looking at $200 plus.. and who says you need to have 2 people to bleed a system? what opening up all the nipples and letting it all drip out what does that need 2 people to do it? no.... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
