basically from my experience with rust converter, after you sand somthing back as good as you can possibly get it, wash some rust converter over it and scrub it into the rust, then primer.. paint (whatever). (you'll notice the metal going a white kinda color) basically it just helps the rust from comming back and corroding the metal. I think this is right .. never done it to an extreme like rust on boot seal or anything .. just small stuff

it turns iron oxide or ferric oxide (what ever rust is) into uhmm.... something else trick is to remove it all as much as you can mechanically, like with a wire brush drill bit or even a grinder... then put the rust converter on it... usually have to let that sit for about 2-3 hours and then wipe it with a damp cloth or something to get the excess off, then putty up any holes, prime it and paint it... just follow the directions on the bottle of rust converter... cant go wrong. just make sure theres no loose rust left before you apply it. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Also don't dip the spatula or whatever you are using back into the tub of rust convertor to get more after you have used it. If there are rusty particles on the spatula the rest of the rust convertor will react with it, which means no more rust convertor usage from that bottle. Tip a tiny bit of it onto a lid or something and use it from there.

best to tip some into an icecream container or something and use a paintbrush to apply it. some rust converters actually say you can tip the remaining fluid back into the bottle tho, they can have different active ingredients

and dont get rid of all the rust! they actually need the rust there to react with.

Septone is the best on the market by far, Im just saying that cause my old man works for them, but seriously it is all really good stuff from septone. It basically kills the rust, and stops it from spreading further, when its working it turns white. Follow the instructions closely for the best result. Septone is Australian owned aswell, sort of they are in Queensland

Wurth rust convertor is actually the best by far. Used by the majority of panel beaters in Australia, as well as around the world http://www.wurth.com.au/cataloguevie...f=A03_0314.pdf (http://www.wurth.com.au/catalogueview.asp?pdf=A03_0314.pdf)

Arh yeah WURTH. I am familiar with some of the two part plastic fillers. I was a beater once. I will look into it. Cheers

Yeh, they no longer do the two part plastic filler. They have a new system which covers both filling and bonding.

Yeah Should have read your post properly. I assume the link was for a thread of yours. Could have saved some time searching the web if I'd read the post properly. Cheers

i got stuff from supercheap (septone), and then i covered it in fishoil afterwards, and iv had the bar metal in air for about 4 weeks and no surface rust at all, i think all it really does it stop the air rom getting toit, acts as a sealent, but dont expect to put it onto surface rust and see it disspear, get the grinder out and wire brush and scrap it all off, then use it. and follw the instructions
