Hey guys have any of you used one of the Viper 791xv alarms that are for sale on the forums. Wondering if they are as good as everyone claims them to be. And did any of you wire it up yourself. Just wondering how good the wiring diagram is Thanks Hilly Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Sounds like a whole heap of people have purchased these alarms. MUST be good. However I recommend a QUIKTRAK system. Best move I have made. Almost impossible to steal... but then again if someone wants to steal your car they will by any means possible. I just think making it harder for them is a challenge in itself Seriously grab yourself a QUIKTRAK. Bit pricey but well worth it. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

david85dc, i read up on the quicktrak, is it just a additional thing you can add to an alarm or is it an alarm in itself? ive got a viper vx791 and im wonderin whether i could have a quicktrak aswell as keep the original alarm Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yep, got it installed, alarm is good, sensors are very responsive (too responsive perhaps) i turned mine down a notch. Distance on usage varies alot, on flat ground (no obstructions, buildings etc) alarm will work fine at fairly long distances but i'd give it a 40-50 metre radius in built up area. then again that could be just my alarm

its an entire alarm and tracking system, costs $1500+ then $360 a year monitoring fees

Dont waste your time with anything else and cheap $2 alarms. The quicktrak is a unit which has all the features of a normal alarm as well as a 3 point immobilser and tracking system. Bout $1700 installed but believe you me it's a decision you wont regret. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Hrmmmm.... Looked at the "monitoring" zones for melbourne... Does that mean if they get your car out of that zone that they cant track it or what ?

yes it has to be in the zone. check out some of the saves 2 February 2005 Sydney: In an all too common incident, the owner of a Subaru Liberty GT was notified by QuikTrak that an alarm had been received from the vehicle whilst it was parked in Chippendale. The owner was able to confirm that the vehicle was secure, although the front passenger window had been smashed. 7 February 2005 Sydney: An alarm was received from a Subaru Impreza WRX parked at Ambarvale. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the owner discovered that some sort of smoke bomb had been thrown at the vehicle while it was parked at work. The owner reported that the vehicle was filled with smoke and that there was a slight dent and some damage to the paint. 9 February 2005 Sydney: In a frightening incident, QuikTrak was contacted by NSW Police and asked to locate a stolen HSV Clubsport R8. The owner had been carjacked and badly assaulted, sustaining multiple injuries that required him to be taken to Bankstown hospital. The vehicle was quickly located - stationary in Sefton - and was soon recovered by Police. The owner was released from hospital and is recovering well. 11 February 2005 Sydney: The owner of a Mazda RX7 was contacted by QuikTrak after an alarm was received from the vehicle. The owner immediately checked the vehicle and found another vehicle had crashed into the RX7. The owner reported that he had exchanged details with the culprit.

Not to sure on that. Never worried cause the coverage area for the sydney region is plenty. I mean to get outside that coverage area from my place will tak approx 1.5 hours. If i have not realised in 1.5 hours that my car is missing then good luck to the thieves. I think I have state of the art security. A QUIKTRAK alarm, a garage, in the garage there is one of those poles you pull outta the ground (name ?) and to top it off an american pitbull.

Whats the next best thing to Quiktrack? I cant really afford the $1500+ to get the thing installed...and then there's the monitoring...on top on petrol, insurance, general servicing etc etc. Im sure there are many ppl on this forum who share my financial pain! My alarm is sweet now...however prefer to be safe than sorry! Does anyone know about "dB alarm systems"??? they advertise in the trading post in Vic. Just wondering if anyone has one of their systems? Saw their top of the range one was around $500 installed...had a lot of features. Any info would be awesome, want a new system asap Cheers
