I have come accross a ripper deal on a gt30 and as my wastegate on my t3 is on its way out i thought i might buy it, just wondering how much effort there is involving mounting one to the factory manifold, and if my stock engine will handle one of these puppies. I have a cooler exhaust etc, but factory fuel system apart from a malpassi. Just cant pass up the deal as it is brand new in the box just waiting for me to bolt it on???? Any advice and information on what i should look out for and how i go about fitting one would be a huge help!

if its internally gated then it will bolt straight up just a dump pipe will need to be made may b oil lins aswell but all round a days work !! if its externally gated then its the same but youll need to blow a hole in your mani and fit a pipe for external gate

^^ thats about it
didnt think GT30's came with internal gate tho... i just bought a GT35/40 1.06 rear with internal gate, gonna be fun
you might have to slightly modify cooler piping, and it might need a spacer plate so the comp cover dosnt foul on the exhaust manifold (duz360 sells 20mm spacer plates msg him)
you would want to grab a set of bigger injectors (GTR for example, or 036s or even 363s) and a aftermarket ecu, bigger fuel pump too (984 is nice)
the bucks add up of course but horsepower costs money....
then ya gotta worry about your gearbox/clutch coping with the power
how cheap is it any way?

NinetySix: how much did the 35/40 cost you, and where from? this is the turbo i am looking at for my twincharge, but i suspect it might be a bit small. if yours is going onto an RB30 SOHC i would love to hear your results, particularly with boost control and lag of the setup. is it going to be tuned soon?
Adjet: you could probably run 6-7psi on the GT30 before your stock fuel system runs out of scope. it won't feel a hell of a lot laggier than before, but it sure will make more power!

it was a bout $1800 and there are quite a few places you can get them for that price, just look in the for sale section (advertisers)
JNRGMH has a few left for $1500, spewing i missed one of those... PM him if your keen
i doubt very much it will be "too small" unless you have a realllllly wild motor. these turbos could pump around 400rwkw, give or take a few.. the wastegates work fine on XR6's so i dont think they will have any trouble on a VL, plus its a fairly decent looking unit
hope to have it all bolted together in a month or 2, but i still need injectors, a clutch that *might* handle the grunt, a lokka for the diff and a dump pipe & intake piping to be made up ....

$1500 is extremely cheap! just waiting on a tax return now and i'll pm the man about one, $1799 from him was the cheapest i have seen to date.
the motor isn't really too wild, but it's a bit different to most which is why i need a big turbo. see my signature for a hint

you can get int gated 30's... being that a 35 esentially isnt much different at all it stands to reason. They are the same dimensions if i recall correctly.
Just the cart and w
Im selling my GT30, 8,500kms on it as a side note
Buyer of my motor package etc wants to use a different turbo

14-08-05, 19:25 GMT+10#16 phwaor, nice figures grantos. that's about 250rwkw i believe, more than enough in a manual VLT! does it wheelspin 3rd now?

14-08-05, 20:10 GMT+10#17 ill be happy if i get 250rwkw with my setup
what are the chances of a stock vlt cam doing that? :|

14-08-05, 20:27 GMT+10#18 for the cost of a cam regrind, there is no point in NOT doing it. for less than $300 you can get a custom ground cam which will help to no end. i would do it even before i upgraded the turbo on a SOHC RB30.
