Hey all, i have a few questions relating to fitting VZ front disc/calipers etc. 1st of all, i understand you need adaptor hubs - how much should these cost? i only found one place in NZ that will make them and they are planning on charging me $800 for a pair - i think this is extremely over priced but im not entirely sure! 2ndly do i have to upgrade the master cylinder and the brake booster? or is it just recommened that you do? 3rdly i have brought a whole set of VZ SS brakes (as he wouldnt sell me just the fronts - what i would like to know is, what models will the VZ rear discs/calipers fit on? as i will need to sell them to try and get some money back. I know they wont fit on a VL so im guessing they arent going to fit on anything before a VS - but im not entirely sure as to what models they will fit on, so a little help would be much appreciated!! If someone could help me on the issues that would be greatly appreciated. I have tried searching for this info but cant seem to find it! Thanks all, Jay

Jay, check out ebay.com.au for the hub adaptors for the front. I am buying a VY front bake upgrade kit tonight off ebay. I cant get onto ebay here at work, but tomorrow I can tell you the name of the guy on ebay here in oz that sells them. They are around $100-200 a pair for the front.

The booster & master cyl will make a big difference if you do. Oh yeah $800 for the hub adaptors is a rip off.

One option could be to ring CW Wreck in melb. and ask if they freight the brake booster & master cyl parts to NZ if ya cant get them there.

have you spoken to rare spares? they will sell you a complete upgrade kit, i.e. adaptor hubs, calipers, discs and braided lines for around $1100. i spoke to them about this a few months ago, for some reason its way cheaper to get the whole package rather than just the hubs. the parts are almost brand new, they come off the commodores that are converted to HSVs. because of aussies bizzare safety rules, holden cannot re-use these parts as they are deemed second hand, even though the car is just transported from one factory to another.

Thanks for that - gave rear spares a call this arvo and they will do em for around $340 a pair i think they said - something like that! now i just have to find out if its cheaper to get em in aus and ship em over here or just to pay that price from rare spares and get em shipped from CHCH to AKLD. => On the m/c and booster topic - is there any point in upgrading the m/c to a 1" but not upgrading the booster? cos the booster upgrade sounds like a lot of pissing about and money! where as the m/c is quite easy and not too expensive from what i hear! (correct me if i'm wrong) => Also the rear discs/calipers - what will they fit? is it from VS upwards or not? maybe VT upwards? im not sure, could someone please help clear this up? gotta sell them so i can fund the hub adaptors, m/c etc etc. Anyways, Big thanks to ya all, this site is more useful than ringing "professionals" most of the time... well from what i find in NZ anyways. later, Jay

racerbouy_au has the kit less the hubs for $395. add the hubs $240 and a brand new booster $280 and you have a complete upgrade kit for $915 + delivery. cheaper than rare spares and hopper stoppers, a former sponsor of the site.

I already have most of the stuff - all i need is the hubs, and possibly a new m/c and booster. So that really doesnt help me too much. Plus i'd with the freight and after converting to NZ$ then it will work out rather expensive! Thanx all the same though, Jay

i'm looking at doing this upgrade myself and have done a bot of research on this site. yes you will need to upgrade master cylinder to 1 inch (esp if you have drums as the cylinders have some weird non return valve for drum set ups) but as for the booster, not too sure, but would be interested to find out. if in doubt, perhaps talk to your mechanic, or some where like race brakes in Eden Terrace (0800 brakes - www.racebrakes.co.nz (http://www.racebrakes.co.nz)) hope thats of some help
