i was just wondering what the deal is with doing a gas conversion at home? i have heard you can mount the tank etc and place everything there and just get a pro to fit the line and test it etc? just after some comments/ thoughts

better to speak to the transport authority, as they will give you the information you need. people on here will presume and just say so and so did it them self an havent had a problem with it. but i am going to presume and say being gas you will need to get a cerifcate to say it was done by a professional gas installer .

Yeah unfortunatly.. it's not a DIY job.. wont be legal without an accredited gas installers certification plate.. which they put on once the install is complete.. By the sounds of your engine.. running LPG sounds like a good idea..

yeah lol, my fairmont is already on it, im going to go ahead and put my mates 304+driveline out of his crashed calais into my vl. and his was on straight gas and i have all the stuff. ill ask around, ive heard people in the ACT have mounted the tank etc, and taken their car to a certified gas joint and they have tested it and finished it off, and then complianced it, will have to ring around i guess

Warning: This may not be the norm! I will be getting my gas tank fitted in early February. I have already spoken to the guy fitting the system and he has said that he does not mind me putting the tank in, with the brackets but thats all I can do. Eveidently it saves him half the days work making up brackets etc as I grabbed this tank out of a VL from the wreckers. Easy peasy! So my assumption is yes, you can fit the tank, but not connect anything else up (like the neck of the tank etc)

we've had plenty of customers do it all at home and then bring it in for the compliance. i can't see why not as long as the car is not started before it gets checked over (towed in) you should be aok.
