Hey guys, my dad owns a 1999 WH statesman V6 Auto, that just got its 100,000km serivce done within the last 3 - 4 months i think
Anyway, the other day (sunday 10th), while me n him were driving to my footy game, some lights flashed up on the dashboard, there were 3 and they were 'power-train' (i think thats right) 'ABS' and 'Low Trac/Trac Off' (traction control, but we didnt think anything of it, then on the way home it did it again, but we still thought nothing of it.
Monday was fine, nothing came up, but then today(tues 12th) while we were driving home from school and those 3 light came up again (ABS, TRAC low/ off, Power - trains) aswell as the Airbag Light! they stayed on for about 15 secs then went off but when they went off the power steering stopped working!, so dad turned the car off and then back on and it was all fine.
So now i was driving to pick up my sis from school, and all went fine until we got just near home and all 4 lights came on again (Airbags, ABS, TRAC OFF/LOW, Power - Train) and then the power steering went out again! (i never realised how hard it actually is to steer a nearly 1.7 tonne car with out powersteering cause ive only just started learning )
So my Question is, do any of you know a possible problem is? i think it might have something to do with the computer but i got no idea, lol
I think dads gunna take it to Doncaster Holden later in the week
Thankz Guys

Yeah mate, pretty hard to diagnose over the net, but you've obviously got some sort of intermittent electrical fault in one of the control units (there are plenty of them in a WH!) They may be able to trace the fault by plugging the Tech tool in at the dealership and looking up the 'history codes' that the system will have logged when the faults occurred, or if you're lucky, it may play up while they are roadtesting it, in which case they should have a much better chance of tracing the cause. If you're even luckier, it may be a common fault and they will already know what component is causing the drama.
I'd recommend that you and your dad write down exactly what happens, and under what circumstances (i.e what lights and how long were they on, what other systems were effected, how long after startup, what accesories were running, what speed were you doing, was it raining, did it occur when you activated something?) Anything which will halp the technicians to reproduce the fault while they have it. These things have a habit of disappearing as soon as you drive into the dealership! Best of luck with it...
yes, dont buy WH statesmans lmao
my old girls one has a really loud knock in the auto, feels like its on lag, revs its tits off but goes no where, has been to the mechanics 3 times and still isnt fixed, its f ucked
Hey again, We took the car to Doncaster Holden today n the guy plugged in some thing so i could work with the comp. and he cleared all the stuff n what ever but before we took it there, all those 4 lights came on again aswell as the oil light on the dash and two little 'X's one on the bottom right hand side of the climate contoll thing and the other under the km/h on the first LCD screen on the left of the dash.
SO the guy did some stuff n said it should be ok now, and if not youll need to repace tour ABS unit, anway so we were driving home and all the lights came back on and the P/S went off again! so Holden didnt fix anything.. so now dad is looking at buyin a new/ secondhand (but goow and working) ABS unit for a 1999 WH Statesman V6 Auto, the guy said that he can get one for about $700 but dad hasnt got that sorta money at the moment. so i was just wondering if any of you guys out there know of or have a 1999 WH statesman ABS unit, although i think any ABS unit will do that is around the 1999 year, like a VT or sumthing??
Thankz guys

They call that Tec2, he just cleared all your diagnostic codes. I would suggest that your Dad save up the money and buy a genuine ABS unit. If you really want a second hand one try the wreckers or something (unless the car crashed because the wheels locked up ). The ABS unit controls the ABS system, which stops your brakes from locking up by releasing some of the pressure from the brake system. I wouldn't want to do a dodgy on the brakes.

yea me either...considering it'll prob be me thats the unfortunate one that crashes it cause of the faulty ABS unit LOL
Anyone know where to get a new ABS unit then for a cheap price?
